Matilda’s POV. I sped away from Xheree’s house, gripping the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles ached. “Son of a b***h!” I muttered under my breath. I hadn’t expected to see Viel there. I thought that after all I’d done for her, she’d do exactly what I wanted. “Get ready, Xheree,” I whispered through gritted teeth. “You’ll pay for betraying me.” I drove straight to Marco’s condo, desperate to calm the storm raging inside me. “Matilda, what are you doing here?” Marco asked as I entered. I didn’t answer. I sank into the sofa, letting the tension in my shoulders speak for me. He stood in front of me, concern etched across his face. “What do you need?” “Whisky,” I replied, my voice flat. “Coming right up.” As he went to the kitchen, I took a slow sip from the glass he brought me.
