Apart from the dead body of the defamed CEO Getty Peters, Grace removed only two other items from Viscosity. Wrapped in paper to hide it from view, Grace carried the large rectangle out to the level two transport vehicle waiting for her. The other item, taken from Peters desk, remained secretly tucked into her pocket.
Heron, Grace, and twenty-three other officers entered the vehicle. The post-operation jitters buzzed in the air as miniature conversations erupted around them.
Grace received their gratitude for a successful operation in which none of her officers died. She tried to accept this graciously despite the cold fact that Peters was quite dead—and with him, the answers to questions that she now knew had formed in her mind since she woke aching in a hospital bed.
