They ate in silence. Heron ate without regarding his food, clearly immersed in his task. The cheeseburger sat untouched in front of him as he slid a fried tomato into his mouth. She forked a dumpling. With Heron’s attention distracted, she was able to fully survey him with all the scrutiny of a seasoned detective. He had black hair that cut across his cheekbones in the current fashion. His eyes were a deep blue green, the color of the Tahitian Ocean. His nose was narrow, almost too small for his face, giving him a feminine look. The jaw was strong, but the cheeks were soft. The face was symmetrical except for the scar over one eyebrow. She wondered how he’d gotten it but would never ask. He wasn’t rugged as Davion had been. Pretty was more accurate, at least in regard to his face. But
