Chapter 9

1158 Words
Ethan curses a lot, but today his cusses have increased abundantly. Yesterday was the definition of a horrible day. He wasn’t able to open up his car service center and saw that bubbly girl with a ponytail, he missed his afternoon coffee, he literally had to jump from one rooftop to another, he killed 9 men in total, and he only grazed the f*****g spy without any fatalities. Not to mention the continuous nags he got from his father the second he stepped inside the house. For once in his lifetime, Ethan wants a break, it’s very humiliating that he missed his chance to kill one single spy. It’s a big black mark on his record. Mason hasn’t stopped bugging him about it and he can’t take it no more. He needs fresh air. Which leads to his early morning jogs, he’s been running around the park twice and he intends to continue to do so. His mind wanders to yesterday’s playout, he grits his teeth as he runs faster, wishing the wind blows away all his disappointment. When his muscles burn, and his lungs suffocate for the lack of oxygen, he stops and rest his hands on his knees; panting like crazy. His brain swirls around everything that happened yesterday, when he’s suddenly reminded of the fresh coconut smell he found on the road intersection. He can still remember her plump lips, her high ponytail, her red leather jacket, her pearly white teeth, her green eyes, and the way she talked to him while taking control of the wheel. Everything about her scream sexiness, and Ethan can’t help but wonder how can there be such a woman on this universe. Thinking about her makes him realize yesterday is not totally f****d up, he literally met an angel on his way to his missions. A buzz on his phone takes him back to his park, and he hits the answer button annoyingly. “Yes dad, I’m on my way home.” “Good, I need you to accompany Caleb tonight on a charity event. Don’t disappoint me again, Ethan.” Ethan groans and shoves his phone to his pocket in annoyance. Why can’t he break free from Caleb, clearly Caleb has a lot of people to take his place, and he can go to a remote island and lives with chipmunks while eating coconuts everyday. And he got reminded again with the lady coconut yesterday, and a crazy idea struck his brain; it will be awesome if he can take that lady to his island. He snaps out from his thought before it goes wilder. Stupid hormones. A charity event is not as simple as it sounds. For the sake of it, he has to take extra measure of security check on the venue, because some people will use that opportunity to bloody murder Caleb. Not to mention he also needs to come with Caleb for the preparation. Though it’s not really bad since he probably be stuck with Mason. Mason has it harder; Jennifer loves shopping. Before an event she will usually goes on a shopping spree and Mason has to follow her no matter where she goes. She got bodyguards too, but she insists Mason to come with her; saying stuffs like ‘the bodyguards are too dumb, they look like gorillas.’ So when there’s an event coming, Ethan and Mason literally have to be their babysitters. Yay! Note the sarcasm. Ethan sighs in defeat, there’s no way he can run away from this. So he spins on his heels and jogs back home only to find his brother cussing non-stop; it’s probably because his father just told him about the event. As he smiles mischievously, his phone chimes. A message from the almighty Caleb. [I want you to be here on 9 am. Caleb] Ethan rolls his eyes before replying with an [Okay. Ethan] Guess it’s time for him to prepare for his tiring day. ֍֍֍ To conclude, today is much worse than yesterday. Ethan drags his feet as he follows the hyped Caleb and Jennifer. They have been strolling around since 10 am until 3 pm. He has no idea how they got so engrossed in strolling without directions, he grimaces when he sees Jennifer is actually wearing a pretty high wedges, those things must be killing her. “Oh no, Caleb! It’s 3 pm! I’ve got appointment for my makeup and hair!” “It’s that late? Damn, I should prepare myself too.” “Yep, you probably should, see you on the podium!” “See you later, sis!” Finally! Finally, they’re almost on the peak of today’s event. Ethan can’t help but to feel content that his babysitting job is almost done. He bumps his shoulder to the pouting Mason. “Don’t worry, we’re almost done. See you later bro.” Mason nods curtly before following Jennifer. “Hey E, I will go back to my mansion. You go prepare yourself too, and meet me at the venue.” “Sure.” Ethan takes Caleb to his car, and when he sees his car is driving away, he proceeds to his Harley and makes haste to go back to his house. His mother has been kind enough to prepare two suits for him and Mason. His is navy and Mason’s is dark grey. Assuming Mason probably won’t have time to go back home to change into his suit and go back to the venue without being late, Ethan decides to bring Mason’s suit with him. Since he’s bringing a suit, he can’t possibly take his Harley, and taking a Harley to a formal event is just inappropriate; so he chooses to take on his black Mercy, it’s actually his father’s, whatever, his father will gladly lends it to him for this even anyway. Ethan parks his car on one of the reserved areas. He steps down the car, buttoning his navy suit, and messing his natural tousled hair. The navy suit brings out his dark blue eyes prominently, paired up with his brown leather shoes and a Rolex watch. Yes that’s right, he’s filthy rich; all those killed target don’t come cheap. They cost a fortune, and with the piling up number of his targets, his bank account is also getting fatter. Anyway, he looks extremely handsome with his sharp jaws and bulging muscles that failed to be hidden under his suit. It’s no surprise that he got a bunch of girls swooning over him as he makes his way to the charity event. He can’t hide his excitement as he makes his way in, to be honest it’s been so long since he attends such a formal event and the glamour of the luxurious place is totally grandeur, hypocrites; and here they are holding a charity event. Ethan scoffs at that before he spots Mason on the door side looking as messy as can be. Ethan throws his car keys to Mason. “Here, I bring your suit.” “Thanks bro, I owe you.” “I don’t even wanna know what hell you’ve through.” “Trust me, you don’t want to know.” Mason staggers as he makes his way to the car, while Ethan chuckles as he continues walking in. Here comes nothing.
