Chapter 7

Ethan clicks his revolver as his pants echo on the dark alley. Today is definitely the definition of a bad day. He has been after several men’s asses for the whole day, it’s actually weird seeing so many targets in a day. Usually he only got 5 targets tops. He just finished adjusting his belt and jacket when his phone rings. “Ethan!” “Hey Caleb, what’s up?” “You know there’s someone who keeps on following me right?” “You mean your guards?” “No, I mean someone I don’t know.” “You don’t know your guards.” “It’s Henry, right?” “It’s Harry, dumbass.” “How dare you call me that! I will report it to George!” “Sure, fire away. So, which someone? Where are you?” “Barley’s bar.” “Of course you are.” “What?” “I’ll be there in 15.” Ethan quickly hangs up. This day really sucks. Not only he can’t open up his service center, now he got to babysit Caleb. He really has not idea how Caleb can be so god damn dumb, if he knows that someone is following him, he should just get his ass home why bother lingering on a stupid bar? Ethan starts off his Harley’s engine and rides to Barley’s bar. Barley’s bar is Caleb’s favorite place, he goes there almost every day, which makes him a very easy target, because he actually never moves from that spot. And Barley’s has a lot of open spots, perfect habitat for snipers. Sometimes Ethan wonders, why did his father have to sign the contract with the Smiths? Well Peter is a good man, but he’s really fed up with Caleb. Caleb is just too different with his father, maybe he takes after his mother. Ethan is not really fond of Katarina too, she nags too much, too strict, and most of all too bitchy. As Ethan takes a sharp left turn, he’s met with a speeding up black sedan. He quickly pulls on his brake, making a loud screeching sound as his tires make hard contact with the asphalt. “s**t!” “Watch your god damn road!” The black sedan makes an abrupt stop and a lady in red leather jacket rolls down her window. “Ride properly, sir. Good day.” She starts off her car and speeds away leaving Ethan standing flabbergasted. Ethan is not ugly, he’s just not really active in finding a woman, doesn’t mean he’s gay though, but this is probably the first time after God knows how many years he’s getting speechless over a woman. Her dark brown ponytail, the small hairs on her face, her sparkling green eyes, the pointy little nose, her sharp jaw, and most importantly her sexy full lips as she bid him good day. Ethan snaps from his daze and continues his route before Caleb calls him again. He needs to focus, bar is one of the most dangerous places, there are a lot of people swarming around, it gives out a perfect hiding spot. He parks his Harley on the parking lot then checks on his beloved Bowie inside his jacket. Guns are clearly not a great choice; it may cause a lot of casualties and he hates that. Like a shadow he moves across the parking lot and makes his way into the bar. The bar is pretty packed, maybe it’s someone’s birthday or something. His eyes scan through the room, trying to find the striking annoying blondie who keeps bothering him for his whole life. His eyes landed on the said blondie who casually leans on one of the high tables. Without wasting another second, Ethan comes closer and slaps his head. “Ouch! What the hell man I will cut your hands off!” “Oh really, I wonder how you can do that.” Ethan retorts sarcastically. “Oh, Ethan you’re here!” Caleb is totally out, he’s got his ass drunk again. “Ethan my man, what drink you want?” Caleb slurs. “Seriously Caleb, you call me for this? I’m out.” “No no no, seriously, there’s someone trailing me.” “Yeah? And you still can get drunk. Piss off Caleb.” “He’s not attacking, he just keeps following me around. It’s kinda creepy.” “Where’s the guy? Do you know where is he?” “There there there!” Caleb points at a corner excitedly. Ethan almost, almost hits him for being that stupid. “Get your f*****g finger down, you dumbass! Pointing him might get you killed.” Ethan catches a glimpse on a guy wearing a military green hoodie and a snapback hat who tries to push through the crowds. Ethan rubs his face tiredly before making a haste to catch the guy. That guy moves fast, like he thought, the crowds provide a great hiding spot, the dim light makes it even more challenging to keep chasing the blurry military green hoodie. But Ethan knows better, he knows this place like the back of his hand, for Caleb always manage to end his day here. Ethan slips through the side door, and waits until that guy appears at the front door. Little did he know, the guy is also familiar with this place, he moves like a snake and burst out from the other side of the room before pacing down the parking lot area. Fuck. Ethan starts to jog to match with that guy’s speed, and not long after that he starts to gain speed. That guy has a pretty bulky body, it’s a bit surprising to see him moving so fast like a f*****g rabbit. Ethan knows for sure that guy is definitely a spy and a spy can’t stay alive for too long. He unsheathes his Bowie and keeps on running trying to match that guy’s pace. He needs to be fast, and clean. The night is rather young, soon a lot of people with burst out of the bar and it will be harder for him to catch that spy. The distance is getting closer, Ethan boosts up his speed so he can overtake that guy. It’s getting very close. He just needs to jump at the right time. His feet are shuffling so fast and his breaths start to become ragged. But he can’t stop, not now, not until he slashes that guy until that guy drops dead. It is time. He needs to jump. It’s now or never. Ethan jumps and tackles that guy, until the both of them roll on the hard ground. “s**t!” That guy curses out loudly. And Ethan can’t help the smirk that’s showing on his face. He quickly adjusts his Bowie and takes his stance before lunging to that guy aggressively. He wants this to be over soon, he’s f*****g tired after chasing the bunny and all he wants to do is sleep on his bed without having to see more crimson red liquid on his hands. He jumps on that guy as he swings his dagger aiming for fatal blows. But that guy invades it just before the blade touches his skin. Ethan is a bit surprised by the reaction; he knows his skills; his dagger movements are wicked fast. Not many people can skip death when he plays with his daggers. Quickly regains his composure, Ethan spins on his heels and gets ready to attack again. But before he can make his moves, that guy jumps and sends a flying high kick, so instead of attacking Ethan focuses on defending himself, he raises his hands and crosses them to block the kick. As he blocks it, he moves a few millimeters back. He got to admit it though, the kick was hard. This guy is a fighter. Ethan wastes no time to counter attack, his movements got faster, he spins his knife on his right hand and steps forward quickly as he moves the knife to his left, he aims to give his finishing blow now. But that guy sure knows how to block it, he blocks the right jab to his face while at the same time kicking Ethan’s left hand that holds the knife. Ethan who’s taken by surprise by a mere second tries to grab that guy’s hoodie but ends up pulling down a name card while that guy takes this opportunity to flee. Shit s**t s**t! Ethan curses out loud as he grabs his fallen knife and the name card. Dussel Ross. This day has been shitty all along, and the fact that the rabbit guy escapes just makes Ethan’s day got worst.
