Assassinate!

Chapter 1

Fall, September 20xx

A wedding bell is ringing above the chapel of St. Vladimir. Petals of roses are scattered across the street. Peter Smith, a successful mid aged businessman in London, is walking hand in hand with his second wife, Katarina Parker.

A smile is plastered on his face as the crowd cheers on them. Peter waves his hand to his first wife who’s waiting in the car behind the wedding car.

Three months ago Peter met Katarina in a blind date set by his secretary.

His first wife, Lily Campbell, is a Mexican; he met her during his business trip to Mexico years ago, captivated by her beauty and it did not take long for him to propose to her and took her to his homeland.

They lived happily, but happiness has its cost. It has been 10 years since their wedding yet they have not given child yet.

This problem has not left his wife’s mind and thus she asked for her husband to marry another woman in purpose of leaving an heirloom. Peter was hesitant but his wife persuaded him to go to a blind date and give it a go.

It didn’t turn up so bad, Katarina is a caring woman; she’s beautiful not only physically but emotionally too. She accepted Peter even if he is married and she treated Lily just fine.

Peter can’t help but fall in love with her. Three months later they get married.

Lily is never bothered by the choice made by her husband, she believes in what Peter chooses. Besides, it was her who persuades him to get married again.

Katarina is a fine lady, she is beautiful and hardworking. She is indeed someone who is raised in a prestigious family; she makes a perfect match for Peter. Lily likes her too; there is no reason not to like such a noble kindhearted lady like Katarina.

“Katarina… do you have time?”

“Oh, yes. What is it? Can I help you?”

“I’m going to take a walk in the rose garden, there is no one to accompany me and I think if you have spare time, you might, you know, accompany me?”

“You’re so funny. Of course I will. You can ask me anytime you want.”

“Yay! It’s fun when I have someone else to accompany me in such a big house.”

Lily links her hand to Katarina and makes their way to the rose garden. There are a lot of similar things that they are interested in. The day has turned dark as the two of them keep chatting.

Day by day it’s been like that between the two women, unlike the usual bickering of having two wives at home, Peter’s household is so peaceful as his wives are getting to know each other better.

Even though Katarina is the new bride, but Peter spends most of the nights with Lily.

This simple complexity has sparked a little jealousy crack in Katarina’s heart. But a little jealousy cannot be treated lightly because it gets worst each day and lit up an evil seed in one’s heart.

It does not close any possibility for sinned thoughts to creep into Katarina’s head.

Smith family has always been a prestigious family since hundred years ago, and there are always people who are scheming to plan destruction for their family. Thus there is a family pledged to protect each and every descendants of the family.

The Black family has been serving Smith family under cover, they hide their identity as to protect their masters, and killing is not out of the options when it comes to protections to their masters.

George Black is the first son of Nathan Black; he’s the one who’s responsible for Peter’s safety.

Lately, a lot of black organizations seem like targeting Peter, it makes the security all over the house increases by a lot which make George comes and go frequently to the main house.

Peter loves his wives dearly; he doesn’t want his enemies to harm his family thus he chooses to stay as little as possible in the house. He goes out early in the morning and late at night or even stay out for a few days.

This situation creates a great opportunity for bad things to happen.

With the help of a cup of wine and sparks of jealousy, Katarina and George fall into temptation of a sinful night.

Katarina wakes up only to find the remaining warmth trace beside her. She recalls the things happened last night and get mortified.

Loads and loads of bad thoughts fill her mind as the fear of being found out that she slept with her husband’s bodyguard spread out and reaches her husband. The only suspect she has is mind is no other than her superior, Lily Campbell.

From here on the only thing she keeps on thinking is how to erase Lily’s existence in that house. Once an evil, there will always be followed up evil plans.

An idea struck Katarina, an idea to remove Lily forever from her life.

“Lily, Katarina, I won’t be coming home until next week. Until then, see you.”

“Have a good trip and good luck on your negotiation. Love you.”

Peter is going to Germany to negotiate business deal with his client. The trip will take for about one week, enough to execute the plan that long has been staying in Katarina’s mind.

The next morning Lily feel nauseated and keep on vomiting. It’s such a bad time to get sick, she thought.

Katarina comes and visits her in the afternoon and brings a bowl of porridge.

“Lily, here I bring porridge for you. It must have been hard for you to eat.”

“Thank you. My stomach just doesn’t feel right.”

The porridge is warming Lily’s body and sends her to peaceful sleep. The fever subsides when she wakes up, but something else turns out.

When Lily looks at her own reflection in the mirror, she has skin rash and there are acnes on her face, which sends her to horror itself.

Lily calls for Katarina to her chamber as soon as she can, hiding behind her thick blanket as she waits for Katarina.

If it’s Katarina… I’m sure she will understand me. I’m sure she will be able to help me. At least she will help me to find the cure. She won’t leave me like I’m some sort of scary monster, she…

“OH MY GOD WHAT KIND OF HIDEOUS MONSTER IS HIDING HERE?! SOMEONE HELP!!!”

Lily stares blankly at the shouting Katarina, her strength has left her 3 seconds ago. The one she thought she could trust is driving a knife to her heart.

“Everybody listen! My husband, Peter Smith is not here, hereby, I, Katarina Smith, as the mistress of this household, declares this monstrous ugly woman to be exiled before the scary plague spread in the whole household and neighborhood!”

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Katarina. But we can’t possibly kick out our own madam from her own house. Madam Lily is still the madam of household.”

Katarina rage has gotten worst as the people of the household denied her existence as the madam of the household.

She has always thought that she stood at the same level as Lily but in reality she will always be Lily’s inferior, Lily’s shadow. She knew it wasn’t easy to kick Lily from the house, after all she’s the madam of the entire household when Peter is not around.

Every day Katarina’s fear is getting worst, fear of having Peter hears about her affair. Her hate for Lily has been growing uncontrollably, she has been thinking lots of many evil things to make Lily leave the house, but she has not found the perfect way just yet.

The news of Peter’s homecoming event is shortly announced, Katarina gets even petrified that Lily will tell her husband about it.

Even though Lily has not shown any signs that she realize about Katarina’s affair, but it only makes sense that the first wife wants to kick the second wife out of the house, right?

Tomorrow is the day when Peter will be home, Katarina decides to confront Lily today. She knocks on Lily’s door, but doesn’t get any answer.

“Lily, can I come in? I’m so sorry for my doings a few days ago. Forgive me?”

Still no answer.

Katarina tries to push the door handle, the door is not locked.

She opens the door slowly, scanning the room carefully.

There is no sign of Lily.

Maybe she’s gone to take a shower.

Katarina allows herself into the spacious room and walks closer to the bathroom, she presses her ear on the door but there’s no sound of running water either.

She tries to open the door, and looks inside.

No one is there too.

A smile spreads across her face, the one person she wished to disappear has finally gone for good.

News travel fast, the disappearance of Lily from the household brings lots of gossips from the entire town.

No one has ever seen Lily after since her run away from the Smith family.
