My car swerved off the road, the sudden impact sending a jolt of adrenaline through me. Beth was startled awake in the passenger seat, gripping the dashboard,
"Rue, Rue, Rue!"
Panic surged as I fought to regain control, my mind racing. What had just hit me? I could feel Ria's presence beside me.
I straightened the car and glanced in the rearview mirror, half-expecting to see whatever had crashed into me. My breath caught when I didn't see a thing. Had it been an animal? A person?
"Are you okay?" Beth asked.
"Yes, and you?"
"I'm good. But what was that?"
