Chapter 2The sound of sirens approaching from the distant road and the clattering thump-thump of a helicopter's rotors snapped Osvaldo and Maricruz out of their shock and lethargy. Pulling himself painfully to his feet Osvaldo stood as tall as he could in an attempt to see the police cars he knew were nearing the site. Someone must obviously have seen the aircraft crash to the ground or perhaps heard the explosion and called the police. Osvaldo also knew that it was extremely likely that one of the men who would soon be alighting from one of those cars would be the chief of the local police, Captain Juan Morales, husband of Sophia. The policeman and the archaeologist had met while Morales had been investigating a series of murders set in the vicinity of the ancient city of Teotihuacán, and
