Chapter 8Escalation
The second body had been discovered just after eleven a.m. by one of the museum guides as she arrived for work. Karina Domingo had walked the two miles from her home and had walked along the Avenue of the Dead for a change, instead of taking her usual route, wanting to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the sights of the old city before beginning work on such a beautiful morning.
As she passed the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent she was attracted by the sound of snuffling and growling close by. Following the sounds, she walked around the side of the Pyramid until she caught sight of two dogs fighting over what appeared to be the carcass of a dead animal.
