Chapter Ten He didn’t care that his shift was long over or that it was dinnertime. He shot off a quick text, after a lot of swearing, to his “partner.” When he’d received no response, he dialled her number. To his surprise, it took her a while to answer. ‘Where are ye?’ Aileen only hummed. After a while, she cleared her throat. ‘Sorry, what?’ ‘Where ye asleep? It’s hardly seven!’ ‘I read your message! I’ll be there.’ She huffed and hung up. Despite his incredible breakthrough, it took Aileen a good half an hour to arrive. It usually took her ten. And he knew that, owing to her impatient nature.
