Okay, I might never win Angela over after today’s fiasco. At the morning meeting, Bruce, the director of our office, casually mentioned that Angela would need to take Friday and Monday off this week because I would be off Saturday and Sunday.
Angela absolutely exploded into a fit of rage. She slammed her hand down on the conference table and proclaimed that she always gets weekends off, and that she had plans that she couldn’t change this weekend.
I tried to diffuse the situation by saying that I could take any days off and would be happy to work the weekend. After all, I am the newbie in the office. It was as if no one heard my offer. Bruce glared at Angela and told her to calm down if she wanted to keep her job. I was completely mortified as the other employees around
