Chapter 1

The contractions were just the start. Immense pain traveled throughout Kierra’s body like lightning. Something that she entirely couldn’t ignore despite the spell she enchanted on herself while she’s in labor. She shouldn’t be feeling any pain. No, rather she was uttering a mouthful of curses, screaming on top of her lungs every now and then, and praying to the ancestors to take all the pain away. At this moment in life, she felt like a mere mortal. However, Kierra isn’t, in any way, a mortal. She’s the Queen of the Wolves, the Luna of all Lunas, the former Lady of the Coven, a High Priestess, and a Charmcaster—a very powerful mage that is ten times powerful than average mages in the Wycca Kingdom. Kierra eventually wondered if being in Monleite Kingdom–the land of the werewolves and she-wolves—has an effect of feeling mortality-like while she’s in the course of the childbirth process. Nevertheless, she didn’t have time to think of such thoughts. For she needed to focus on delivering her babies safely. She’s been in labor for more than twelve hours already, and at this very moment—her cervix is dilated enough to deliver. “I need you to push harder, Mistress,” Olivia, one of the midwives, uttered. Her eyes glimmered with concern as she stared back at her. On her side was the table where everything that she needed for Kierra to have safe labor. “It’ll hurt more as time passes by, but I need you to brace yourself.” Loud screams erupted from Kierra accompanied by loud explosions outside, jolting everyone present in the secret chamber inside the Wolf Palace—an area where not a lot of Weres are even aware of. On most occasions, it served as a safe space for the Royal family whenever a siege was to happen—one that is currently happening. How unfortunate, one must say. To deliver a child on the same night of the attack in the palace. A night that’s supposed to be memorable for the Wolf King and Luna Queen, Winston and Kierra Devline-Schwainz. Although, one thing’s for sure—this is surely going to be an unforgettable night for all of them. Reiger Harlow was aware that the woman was bearing a child, but he’s unaware of the labor day. But that’s the last thing he should be concerned about. They prepared this uprising for almost a year, planning meticulously and carefully—without the knowledge of Kierra and Winston. Betraying them had never been so easy, Reiger could only ponder. He took pride in that sense of deception, motivating him further in overthrowing Winston from the throne. No spawn of the devil can rule the throne other than me, he thought to himself. “Push harder, my dear,” Winston muttered with utmost concernment, holding Kierra’s left hand with both his large hands. “You can do this. I believe in you.” Kierra screamed once more, doing as she’s told. “Y-you shouldn’t be h-here. You s-should be outside, W-winston,” she exclaimed, gripping her left hand tightly on her mate’s hold, followed by another loud cry. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” Winston promptly replied, smiling endearingly to his wife. “Just let me see our pups for a moment before I leave. Besides, Hanson is already outside. All Royal knights and pack warriors are doing their best to keep Reiger from attacking the palace.” Hanson, Winston’s wolf, was barbarically biting and fighting off other werewolves that were trying to breach the Wolf Palace. He was knocking down attackers that would lunge at him from every direction. As a wolf, Hanson is about ten feet in length, has silky white fur, blue glowing eyes, and is very swift. It was easy for him to battle three normal sized werewolves at the same time. That being said, Hanson, much to his expectation, was doing a great job guarding the entrance of the palace. Back in the days, almost 2 decades ago, a dark witch casted a curse on the Schwainz’ entire lineage, wherein their wolves would separate from their human body whenever they would try to shift—as if they are two different beings. Over the course of time, this tell-tale was told to pups to scare them whenever they’re being rebellious, or not following their parents. Schwainz’ were called Ledivs for this wolf separation curse. Years had passed, and there was no cure to the curse befallen to them—eventually accepting it as part of their life. On numerous occasions, Winston’s wolf saved him from any danger that unfolded before him. What others deemed to be a devil creature, Winston and the Schwainz’ considered it as a gift. Kierra’s cries resonated inside the secret chamber. If the place wasn’t soundproofed, her screams would’ve been heard by the hundreds of werewolves who are in between fights. The shining Full Moon outside enhanced everyone’s strength as a shifter wolf, even to those who were having a hard time shifting into their wolves. Full Moons are their best friends—especially in time like this. … times where the enemies are attacking the Wolf Palace in order not just to Oust the Schwainz, but to also kill them and all of the royal Kingdom Pack. As Kierra made one last push, a loud cry echoed in the room. It was her first born! “A girl!” Olivia exclaimed. “And she’s so beautiful, Kierra.” she added as she did her best to cut the umbilical cord that connects the baby to her mother. Afterwards, she wrapped her in a fresh white towel, then passed her to the Luna Queen. Kierra smiled as tears fell down her eyes. She wanted to hug her little girl, but she experienced another excruciating pain in her stomach. “Another one, Olivia.” she screamed in all her might. Olivia quickly passed the baby to Winston. “Alright, I need you to push more, Mistress.” Twins on a Full Moon were unheard of. Pups getting born on a Full Moon were, but never twins—especially hybrids.
