Your Purpose

Luciano POV “Omertà: to take a vow of silence in the Mafia, punishable by death if not upheld.” Cordelia’s voice rang softly, I nodded my head approvingly as I sat in my office while Nicolo continued showing off the progress Cordelia has done.“Molto bene, fiore.” ( Very good, flower. ) I said firmly with a hint of amusement, she was adjusting rather quickly. Standing from my seat I took her petite hand in my large one and looked at the diamond ring on her finger. Not long from now, she will be Mrs. Salvatore, not that she wanted to be but it was the deal he had made with his father...Marry to stabilize the Mafia and to produce an heir, his job was to keep her safe that year until the child was born, after that, it would be God’s will what would happen to her. Dropping her hand, I moved back behind my desk and sat down, I waved Nicolo off and he nodded as he gestured Cordelia to follow him. She wore a blood-red satin-tight dress, that clung to her figure very nicely. Cordelia followed him out, swinging her hips a bit more than usual causing a small smirk to play at my lips, “ Fiore, resta.” ( Flower, stay.) her walking came to a stop and she slowly turned around, Nicolo nodded his head in respect and disappeared through the door, shutting it behind him. Cordelia had been here for nearly a month now, and within that month she had witnessed death, torture and still walked around tough as could be. “ How are you?” I asked softly, my tone seemed to shock both of us because her face fell soft, and vulnerable. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she closed her eyes with a sigh and shrugged, “ Do you actually care?” She asked with a hint of sadness. Something in her tone made me want to hold her, but I would not. Love was for the weak. “ I suppose not,” I stated with a sigh, at the time it was true...Why should I care for someone that will only die in the end anyway? She could never be safe with me, our son would grow up in danger as well but he would learn to defend himself at a young age and learn the routine, etc. She nodded and turned to leave, once her hand reached for the door. I stopped her. “ Wait…One day you will marry me and carry my son… This is your purpose, do not forget it.” I stated sharply, with very little emotion. She nodded once again and left the room.
