Chapter One

Ivy Morgan POV:

I wasn't supposed to be at the opening of Blackwood Group in Los Angeles, but my boss decided to add me to the list of servers at the last minute.

I wanted to spend my day off with my boyfriend, Derrick, since it's been a while since we last saw each other and it was our anniversary.

We were supposed to see each other, but he cancelled again, so I had no choice. I prepared and left for work.

As I say in the taxi,I kept checking my phone if he would text but got nothing. I couldn't help it but I felt unhappy and thinking about his attitude lately, he rarely calls or even respond to messages like before but I had to understand that this new job meant a lot in his career.

My best friend Aria,we both met in high school till she travelled out. She had rich parents so life was easy for her.

When they were hiring I had to beg her to consider my boyfriend which she reluctantly did and that alone made me grateful to her but I knew I couldn't disturb her with our issues again since she was his boss.

The Blackwood company opening ceremony was about to start, and I could see guests, celebrities, influencers walking in already.

We quickly dressed up in our uniform and stood at our spots. I couldn't help but at the calibar of people that walked in, they gorgeously dressed. The men wore sharp black and blue suits while the women dressed elegantly.

I looked with admiration but secretly wondered when I would be able to attend such events as a guest, not as a staff.

Derrick's job gave him this opportunity, but he always gave one excuse why I couldn't be with him. I felt neglected but I couldn't complain.

I sighed as I thought about him; he had changed from the man I knew two years ago.

"Ivy," Grace called out excitedly."I heard the CEO of Blackwood Group is very handsome but intimidating, they also said he has branches in the U.S and also in London. That's a big man, you know," she said in one breath

"Grace, we just got here, and you have complete information about our host?"I questioned with a smile on my face because Grace was very nosy.

"Trust me, I can't wait to see him in flesh and blood, she smiled

As the event was about to start, I sighted Derick among some businesses men.My heart skipped as he told me he was out of town for some businesses meeting. I never imagined that I would see him here as I studied for a while before I sighted my manager. She had warned us to be in our best behaviour as she had not had such kind of contract in a long time but I knew I had to see Derrick. I quickly excused myself as I lied to Clara that I wanted to use the restroom before the event started.

I walked around the hotel, pretending to look for the restroom till she couldn't see me any more but I couldn't enter as I didn't have invitation card.

As I walked, I admired everything here; it screamed luxury, I was hoping to get a chance to see him but I shouldn't be found in my uniform loitering around. just as I was about to take the left corner to the convenience, I saw two well dressed lovers in a corner kissing eachother so passionately. I smiled because why couldn't they get a room and get comfortable but as I got closer I heard familiar voices.

" What excuse did you give her this time?"the woman asked.

" Told her I was out of town for Two weeks business meeting " the man responded

Derrick, my boyfriend

Ariana, my best friend

" Are you sure Blackwood won't use there services" she asked still kissing him.

"Of course not! They don't have such kind of contracts." They both laughed

Derrick's arms were wrapped around Aria, my best friend. Their lips locked hungrily as they were both lost in it.

Tears dropped down as I watched my boyfriend of two years cheating on me with my best friend.

Aria never like Derrick,she always had something negative to say about Derrick,she never believed he loved me, or so I thought.

She always looked down on him, and the same person who looked down on my boyfriend is in his arms, kissing him so passionately.

That moment,they felt my presence and looked in my direction with shocked expressions

"Ivy, Ivy, Derick called as he tried to move close to me

Tears filled my eyes, as I stopped him from coming closer, my eyes locked with Aria, could see she wasn't remorseful but tried to hide her face.

" Let me explain, Ivy, Derrick said as he tried to move closer again, I removed my left shoes and threw it at them as I ran out.

He cancelled most of our outing, always complaining about stress but that wasn't the issue. He was having an affair.

It made sense now that Derrick would rather be with people in his class or more. I ran out of the hotel, forgetting that I had a job to do.

"Ivy, Ivy, where are you going? Grace called out as she saw me running out, and at this moment, nothing made sense to me.

Out of the hotel’s grand doors, my one leg heels clicked frantically against the pavement as I crossed the street without looking with my one leg with shoes I didn’t see the black car until headlights flared across my face and bumped into me.

I fell down,my hands bruised and my body burning with shock as I was badly injured.

I could stand up as I heard a man got out of the car, cursing his driver for being careless.

" You are fired, Move away" I heard.
