ELENA DUVAL I lay on top of shards of glass. I felt brutal pain climb up my body. The slurry echoes of words and gunshots in the air. My vision was blurry. And darkness began to crawl in at every flutter of my eyes. “Elena, Elena,” I heard Dad's voice echoing around. I groaned, tilting my head to the side as I lay in the middle of the broken mess.
