I got into a cab feeling embarrassed and delusional, my self esteem was brushed off my face, thoughts went wide as I was driven home. I looked out of the window absentmindedly with my gritted teeth, thinking about the conversation I had with Michael. There's no doubt I needed money but I can't stoop so low to break the promise I made to myself.

I sighed and leaned back to my seat, my eyes facing the headliner , ‘I would never agree to his demands, he is just like other men, what do he even take me for? a slut?, if he continues pestering me I would have to report him to the police’

“ma'am we've arrived” the chauffeur jerked out the thoughts in my head.

I paid him and got down from the cab, I headed to my apartment, getting to my door. I saw some letters on my doormat, I picked it up and went into my apartment.

I sat down on my couch “it's been a long day” I whispered, dumping my bag on the floor and kicking off my shoes. I unpeeled the letters and was shocked with what I saw, my heart gave me a mad kick in her chest.

It was all the bills I had to pay, they were all due since last month and were beginning to pile up.

I sighed and raked my fingers through my hair, tears stung at the back of my eyes as my mind raced, tears were pricking out of the corner of my eyes, the debts to clear and bills to foot was driving me crazy.

I wiped the tears off my face, I stood up, went and took a shower, I ate the sandwich I took from the restaurant, retiring to bed with an almost empty stomach,a heavy heart and a head filled with thoughts.

My phone chimed, I opened my eyes slightly, dapping my arms at the side bed where I could find my phone. Fortunately for me, it stopped ringing. I ignored it and tried catching some sleep again. My phone chimed louder, I jolted up and picked the call.

“Hello Abi” I grunted wondering why she called this early . “hey Jess, hope you didn't wreck things up this time” Abigail asked, putting me in the state of confusion

“Abi it's too early for this drama, I want to catch some sleep” I replied, scowling my face and sounding crackly.

“Come on Jess it's 7:30 am, tell me some good news baby, are you with Michael now?, Oh my f*****g God, Jess! I want to believe my instinct is wrong!” Abi voice piercing loudly into my ears, i rolled my eyes, I was dumb, oblivious of what to say.

Suddenly I heard someone pounding at my door, I flinched, I wasn't expecting anyone

“what that noise Jess” Abi asked bemused, “I'll get back to you Abi” I answered dropping my phone in a haste

I slipped out of bed and strided barefooted to the door, I slightly opened my door only to be welcomed with the faces of angry uniformed men.

“Good day,ma'am " One of them said, pushing his card to my face and handing over a letter to me,”We're from the ESU Company where you were given the sum of 500 hundred dollars as a loan, we have been authorized to get the stuffs you used as collateral” my heart sank to my chest as heard those words from the staid officer

“What?" I whispered as looked into the paper in my hand, “But Sir I was given next week to pay off, why the sudden change, please you can't do this to me, I promise to pay up" Tears rushing down my checks, I stood, stunned at everything, I felt like I was daydreaming

“I'm sorry ma'am, we have been instructed to do so” He said, his raspy voice sending shivers to my spine, his cold dark eyes looking directly into mine, I stood puzzled then he nodded to his men who stormed into my apartment.

“No Sir, please You can't do this, please I'm begging you Sir, I promise to pay up by next week" I held the man's pants as I begged with my knees on the floor but I was brushed aside and the couple of uniformed men took whatever valuable thing they sighted.

Tears flowed down my eyes as I watched them take my television, couches and every valuable thing they could lay their hands on. I watched my world crumble before me, I dropped down on the floor with tears slipping down my cheeks.

“Pay up ma'am, by next week you'll be Arrested!” the mean officer said as they bagged out of my house with my belongings, I couldn't utter a word, my head was too heavy to lift, I was frozen to the ground crying out my eyes non stop

Few hours after the incident, I went back to my bed, confused about what would happen next.

I picked up my bag, ransacked it and saw a business card Michael had given to me.

I sat crossed legged on my bed, My face stained with tears and I looked pale and tired from crying.

I stared down at Michael's card which he had given to me on the first day he saw me in the restaurant.

“Just do it Jessica, this will be the first and last time” I affirmed to myself with my eyes closed, I took a deep breath, opened my eyes and dialed the number on his card into my phone, placing it with shaky hands on my ear.

He picked up in the second ring, his voice was quavering, perhaps I woke him up.

“Yes,who is this?" He said.

I drew in a breath, I couldn't utter a word for a second, ‘ this is the only choice you have, don't mess it up Jessica’. I heard Abi’s voice in my head, which helped me gather courage.

“Hi, Michael" I called him, my voice tottering,”It's me Jessica,the ch-

Without hesitation, forbidding me from completing my introduction, just at the mention of my name,he knew who it was and the tone of his voice switched immediately.

“Hey Jessica?It's nice to hear from you," He retorted happily, like his has been waiting for me to call him

I sniffed and then wiped my nose with the back of her hand.

" Yeah” my answer was snappy, that was the only word I could utter

There was a second of silence from his end then his voice came soft and soothing,”Jessica,are you alright? What's wrong?"

I ignored his questions and moved straight to the point," Where can we meet?”

Michael was hesitant to answer, at a moment I felt like I was being too desperate due to his silence ”Jessica,are you-"

“Yes,” I was so impatient, I just needed money, I respond snappily, tears and sadness choking on my words, " I've agreed to your request, let's have a one night stand, tonight.”
