26. You're Next I knew exactly where I was headed this time and focused on the room the animals were being held in. I blinked as I disappeared, leaving Drake and Kiana none the wiser that I was invisible. The smell hit me first. The cloying sickly-sweet smell of decaying, rotten flesh. It was not quite the same smell that clung to vampires. I’d never given much thought as to why vampires smelled the way they do. Perhaps it was because the process of decomposition had been halted before it could reach its peak. I peered into each of the cages, hoping for some sign of life. I knew though, without having to confirm it with my eyes, that they were all dead. Time advances at a faster rate in hell than it does on earth.
