31. Plans Within Plans Asmodeus lifted Gahan’s limp body from the floor and carried him to a room behind the bar. He lay Gahan face down on the bed, surveying the damage done to his back — three throwing stars, one embedded so deeply that only the tip was visible. Asmodeus sniffed at the sharp metal objects and detected the faint scent of angel blood. Was this Gahan’s weakness? He knew that angel’s blood was poisonous to some. In his hand a pair of forceps appeared. Asmodeus would not chance coming into contact with the contaminant that had rendered Gahan impotent. Gahan was unconscious throughout the removal process and remained in that state for the rest of the day. When his eyes finally flickered open he felt weak and useless. He had failed the most basic of tasks — killing mortals.
