chapter 18

The sunshine bloomed through the gap in the curtains, waking Keiron up with its warmth. He looked to his right and smiled at the sight. Debbie was sound asleep. In his bed. In his house. Perfect. He needed the bathroom but he was afraid to move for fear of ruining this perfect scene. He slowly edged out of the bed and slipped into the bathroom. He couldn't believe his luck, Debbie was really here with him and things seemed like they were at the start of a new relationship together. He finished in the bathroom and climbed back into his bed. "Good morning," Debbie smiled as she turned to face him, "how are you?" "Perfect," he replied, "how are you? Did you sleep well?" He kissed her lips. "Best sleep I've had in ages." she snuggled into him. They had spent the night making love. Keiron was surprised to see such an adventurous side of Debbie. It excited him very much and he looked forward to exploring more of that with her. Once they had managed to leave each other alone long enough to make it downstairs for breakfast, they did just that. "So," Debbie gulped down a mouthful of coffee, "how much longer will the decorating take?" "They reckon two weeks," he looked around, "new kitchen installed tomorrow and upstairs bathrooms tomorrow as well. Living room just needs furniture..." "So," Debbie laughed, "instead of inviting me to stay here, why don't you stay with me until it's all done? Don't you launch your company this week? You can't focus with a million workmen hammering away around your head. Also, I don't fancy being dusty for the majority of the day." Keiron hadn't thought about that. His only thought had been to wake up in his bed with his arms around her. "That's very logical.., " he laughed, "okay, your house it is then." Klara was laying on the sofa and reading a magazine. She'd been under the weather the last few days and missed her cousin. Tony was trying but he really wasn't much help. "I don't understand," he sighed, "why don't you just call her. Go round there and talk like old times." "She doesn't want to see me." klara sulked. Tony laughed, "Stop being so dramatic. You saw her the other day, she texted you the day before yesterday.. Go see her." Klara wasn't sure. She was tired and unwell. Maybe later on she would call Debbie. The night of the dinner party gone wrong, klara had suspected that she might be pregnant. She hadn't told Tony and she hadn't done a test until yesterday. It was positive. She should be over the moon! But she couldn't celebrate. She needed to talk to Debbie. She was certain that she knew exactly when and where she conceived and if she was right, it wasn't good. She always wanted to start a family with Tony and she knew this would be exactly what he'd want to hear. But she could not tell him yet. Debbie was the only person she could talk to. She sent Debbie a text. "Can we talk? Can I come over today? I really need to see you?" She waited for a reply. A few minutes later, her phone buzzed with a text. "Of course! I'd love to see you! Come over at 2pm. X" Good. At least she knew she could count on her cousin, even now with everything that's happened. She heaved herself off the sofa and looked at her husband as he watched the match of the day highlights. "I'm going to see Debbie," She smiled, "I better go get ready." "Okay my Queen." Tony blew her a kiss. She smiled and mimicked catching the kiss and blowing one back. This is getting difficult. She wasn't sure how much longer she could stomach this situation. She hurried up to the bedroom to get ready. She needed to talk to Debbie. NOW! Debbie and Keiron were in the bedroom at Debbie's house. "I can clear a drawer for you," she pointed to the chest of drawers, and I'll make space in the wardrobe. " Keiron dropped all of clothes he was holding and held on to Debbie instead. "That's very kind of you" He said, kissing her between each word, "how will I ever show my gratitude?" "I don't know," Debbie pretended to think about it, "you could maybe buy me a ton of ice cream from Afters?" "Consider it done, " he kissed her again, "what time is Klara coming over?" "2pm," she looked at the clock, it was already 1.46pm, "she seems troubled, said she really needs to talk to me." "well, I can hang out upstairs or in the garden," Keiron replied, "give you both some privacy." "Or," Debbie winked, "you could get the ice cream while we're talking." "okay baby," Keiron laughed, "I'll go get the ice cream." The doorbell rang. Debbie leaned out of the window, "Hey. Let yourself in, we'll be down in a sec." Klara unlocked the door with her own key and sat down in the lounge. "We?" she said to herself. A few seconds later, Debbie came down the stairs followed closely by Keiron. "Oh," Klara smiled, "I didn't realise you were here. That must be you're car outside." she spoke to Keiron. Keiron smiled back at her, "Yeah that's me. How are doing?" "Good thanks," she told him, "it's great to see you back here." "Keiron is staying here while his house is being decorated," Debbie smiled and hugged him, "he's very kindly offered to get us some ice cream from Afters." "Now you're talking my language" Klaras eyes glittered, "I could murder a waffle!" Keiron picked up his car keys, kissed Debbie and smiled, "Okay ladies, I'll go grab the good stuff." "Thank you baby," Debbie smiled, "see you soon." Once he'd gone, Debbie and klara made their way to the kitchen, made drinks and sat in the garden. "Are you unwell?" Debbie asked, "it's not like you to not gin up your juice." "I'm pregnant." Klara confessed.
