Debbie woke up the next morning to the sound of her phone vibrating. She didn't even waste time looking at the screen. She didn't care who it was. The phone stopped buzzing and she felt a huge pair of arms tighten around her. She smiled and snuggled back into the embrace.
"I could wake up like this every day." Keiron smiled.
"I have no objections," Debbie grinned, "you make a great pillow."
Last night, they had continued to kiss and a lot of body exploration had taken place. Debbie had fought hard with herself not to take it further. Keiron had let her set the pace and respected her the whole time. It was an intimacy she had never experienced before, especially without actually having s*x. It scared her that she was so relaxed around him. She hadn't even shaved her legs!
"Do you think you'll actually do some work today?" Keiron teased.
"Very funny!" Debbie laughed, "I work hard every day thank you very much!"
"Okay," Keiron smiled, "well I'm working this morning but I've got viewings in the evening. Do you want to come with me? I'd love your opinion."
"Absolutely," Debbie beamed, "What time?"
"First one is 5pm," he replied, "Then another one at 6pm."
"No problem. I'm meeting my cousin for lunch at about 1pm. I can drive back here and pick you up." Debbie offered.
"Sounds good," Keiron placed a soft kiss on her head, "I'm gonna go jump in the shower."
"Ok," Debbie reached for her phone, "I'll get up when you get back."
As Keiron headed to the bathroom, Debbie unlocked her phone. She didn't recognise the number but a voicemail had been left. She sat up and listened to the message.
"Debbie, Debs. It's me, Matt. Look, I'm so sorry about how things have turned out. I went too far, I never should have behaved like that. I've been charged with breaking and entering. I'm so sorry Debbie. Please call me back. I don't want anyone else. I should have taken things more seriously with you. Please give me a chance to fix it... " Debbie ended the message. She'd heard enough. Matt had shown who he really is and she wanted nothing more to do with him.
She dialled her mothers number and waited for her to answer.
"Oh she lives!" her mother shouted, "I wonder if other mothers have to wait a week to hear from their children."
"It's been three days mum," Debbie rolled her eyes, "and I texted you yesterday."
"Three days!" her mother shrieked, "that's the best part of a week. It may as well be a month!"
"Ok, well I'm alive. Thanks, this has been a great call..." Debbie sighed.
"Don't you dare end this call! Talk to me, where have you been?"
"Just working mum," Debbie didn't see the point of worrying her mum by talking about Matt. Or Keiron, "I'm sorry, I'll call more. I'm due to visit you soon. Next week. We'll go out for a nice lunch."
"Alright Debbie dear, don't patronise me. Just pick up the bloody phone once in a while. Goodbye sweetheart."
The phone went dead and Debbie laughed.
She got out of bed and looked for something to wear.
Keiron stepped out of the bathroom in a large towel and Debbie couldn't help but stare.
"Can I help you miss?" he raised an eyebrow at her.
She stuck her tongue out at him and entered the bathroom.
After a few hours working, she put her laptop away and went to find Keiron. He was in the kitchen and had just finished a call.
"Hey," he smiled broadly when he saw her, "you okay?"
"Yes thank you," she grinned, "I'm going out now to meet..."
"Are you going to tell me what Matt said?" He cut her off.
Debbie sighed hard.
"He's just saying the same thing again. Looking for forgiveness. That's all."
"Did he threaten you?" he asked, more serious this time.
"No threats," she promised, "just asking for another chance."
"Okay, fine. Make sure you call me if you need anything! Keep your eyes open..." he walked over to her and held her around the waist.
"I will," she smiled, "I promise."
He leaned closer and kissed her lips.
Klara sat in the bistro waiting for Debbie to arrive. Finally, she saw her enter. She waved her over and called for the waiter at the same time.
"Sorry I'm a bit late," Debbie sat down, "parking is terrible here."
"Oh my god!" Klara almost choked, "You f*****g f****d him!"
"What?!" Debbie laughed, "I take it you're referring to Keiron. No I have not 'f*****g f****d him' as you so elegantly put it."
"So why do you look like that? All doe eyed." klara inspected her cousins face closely.
"We haven't had s*x Klara, calm down." Debbie sighed.
"Debbie, I really don't like this," Klara confessed, "You don't know this guy, he might be worse than Matt. You've only known him for a few days, he's practically living in your house..."
"Klara!" Debbie paused her, "would you just relax?! I like the guy, yes. He's in my house, yes. I have not slept with him yet, do I want to? Yes. I'm a grown up Klara, I can make my own mistakes. If I recall correctly, you knew Tony all of 50 hours before he was digging out your insides so stop judging please. "
Klara drained her drink and put her glass down, "Alright," she groaned, "fine. You're right. I just worry that's all. This Matt crap has really bothered me."
"Join the club!" Debbie poured herself a drink of prosecco, "that's why it's been so nice having Keiron staying with me. Anyway he's looking for a house, I'm going with him later."
"Something has happened," Klara laughed, "I'm not dumb."
"You need to relax." Debbie laughed back. They spent the next couple of hours enjoying lunch before Debbie headed back home to Keiron.
She turned onto her driveway and immediately spotted Matt waiting for her.
She stayed in the car and wound her window down, "What are you doing here Matt?"
"I'm not going to cause any trouble," Matt put both his hands up, "I'm just here to clear the air. I promise. I'm sorry I caused all the problems I caused. I let things get out of control. I should have acted better towards you from the start. I'm gonna leave you alone, I promise. But, if you ever feel like giving me another chance, call me... "
Debbie noticed Keiron standing in the doorway, his eyes fixed on Matt, ready for action.
"I appreciate your apology," she began, "but we could never be together after all this. Besides," she looked at Keiron, "I am taken." Matt realised he was not going to win. He looked at Debbie one more time before making his exit from the property. Keiron made his way down the front steps and over to Debbie, "Are you okay?" he hugged her.
"I am now." Debbie smiled and sunk into the hug.
