Debbie and Keiron pulled up outside a large, blue house.
"Alleyn Park Road," Debbie smiled, "I love it here. I used to dream about these houses as a youngster. I'm excited to finally see inside one. Thanks for inviting me along."
"Stop thanking me," Keiron winked, "and thanks for joining me. I used to play football at the park across the road. I always promised myself I'd buy a house like this."
"Where is the next house after this?" Debbie smiled.
"Streatham," he replied, "but, if I like this house enough, I won't look at anything else."
"That's crazy," Debbie laughed, "what if the next one is better?"
"This is what I wanted more than any of the other ones I have lined up," Keiron rubbed her hand, "that's why I wanted to see it first. If it's got everything I want, I'm not looking any further."
They sat looking at each other for a few minutes. Debbie got the impression that Keiron wasn't just talking about the house. She was about to ask him something when the estate agent arrived.
"Let's go." Keiron grinned and they hopped out of the car.
The estate agent smiled broadly and stretched out her hand to greet them, "Hello Mr and Mrs Harris..."
"Err." Debbie fumbled.
"Er, yes," Keiron shook the lady's hand, "hi."
They entered into the house after the agent and listened as she spoke about each room with great detail. The house was beautiful. Everything Debbie imagined it would be. It needed decorating but nothing serious. Just a lick of paint and some furniture. She loved it. Even more than her own house.
"What do you think sweetheart?" Keiron looked at her, "Do you like it?"
"It's beautiful baby," she played along, "I love it."
Keiron smiled at her and for just one second, it felt like they were completely alone.
"It is very beautiful," he replied, almost in a whisper, "I think I definitely want it. Can I have it?"
Debbie was beginning to lose the stability in her knees. Looking into Keirons eyes, she could feel her throat getting dry.
"Yes," she struggled with her own voice, "yes, I think you can."
"Great!" the agent shrieked with delight, reminding them both that she was still there. They followed her through to a room to discuss the next step.
A few hours later they were sitting in Debbie's kitchen with a bottle of champagne.
"Congratulations!" Debbie raised a glass to him.
"Thank you very much," Keiron put his glass down and looked at Debbie, "Debs, I think we need to talk."
Debbie put her glass down too. She was nervous.
"Okay." she smiled softly.
"I don't think it's impossible to tell that I really like you. I'm happy to take things super slow and give you whatever space you need. But, I just want to know how you feel. What's going through your mind?"
Debbie was dreading having this conversation. They had become very close very fast and she was definitely into him.
There was nothing stopping her from being with him. They were both single, similar in age, they got on and they obviously had chemistry. This was everything she was waiting for.
"I'd be interested in seeing what happens between us," she answered shyly, "I really like you..."
Keiron got up and pulled her up to join him. He held her close and they swayed, dancing along to the music playing in the background.
"I've never slow danced to DMX before." Debbie laughed.
"Me neither," Keiron laughed, "but it makes sense with you. A lot makes sense with you."
"So what happens now?" Debbie asked as she rested her head on his chest.
"Well," Keiron spun her around and held her with her back to his chest, "I think I definitely want to kiss you. After that, you're gonna decorate my new house." Debbie giggled and turned once again to face him. She locked her arms around his neck and he smiled at her like she was his favourite meal.
"There's something very special about you Debbie," he spoke softly, "I want to be around you all the time. I don't even know how this happened. All because of air bnb."
Debbie laughed loudly, "That was sounding so romantic and then you said 'all because of air bnb' that's hilarious."
"I heard myself saying it but I couldn't stop." Keiron joked.
Later that evening, they lounged in Debbie's bed and watched tv.
Debbie laid across Keirons chest as he let his fingers dance around her shoulder. He wasn't sure what good he'd done to be rewarded with something as sweet as Debbie but he knew for sure, he didn't want to lose her. Tamara had caused him a whole world of pain and honestly didn't think he was even looking for a woman right now. But luck put him outside Debbie's house that night and he couldn't be happier. The stars had aligned to bring them together. Things could only get better from here. Right?
