The Escapade of Althea

Chapter 2

Althea's POV

A week has passed and we train so hard so we can coordinate our attacks and know the strength and weaknesses of everybody. We became so close while we're training and bonding over the week, now here we are ready to enter and bet our lives to have the greatest adventure we could have. And of course, some of us want the treasures and items that are waiting for us. 

The Tower of Life, which mysteriously appear 50 years ago. Adventurers start to enter here and every floor they can clear, they can get some golds, and items they can use to enhance magic or their skills. And every floor has a beast, monster, and creatures that attack people who enter the floor. The tower is known to have 75 floors, but the highest adventurers can go is up to the 74th floor. No one can enter the 75th floor and no one knows why, and many theories have been formed like the only party that can go through is the powerful one and deserve to enter and can open the gate of the 75th floor. Or maybe the white legendary dragon is residing there that's why only the chosen one can enter.  

And that's what my goal is, to conquer the whole tower. I don't mind the treasures and item but what I want is to have the greatest adventure I can get here, all the fun and where I can test my powers out. 

"Are you all ready? There's no going back now." Taylor said as I looked at my team and smile at them. We all nodded and head towards the tower. But before we can enter we need to register on the side to one of the members of the guild and I saw the girls at the back of the registrar who I collided into the guild house. While Taylor and William are on the registrar, registering us, I ask Alexa. 

"Who are they?" I whisper to Alexa, she looks at me and sighs. 

"They are the best party in the guild, the Elites. Their party consists of royals and the best adventurer in the city." She explains to me. 

"But why don't they enter the tower then?" She sighs again but she continues to explain it to me, and so I smile at her. 

"You really don't know anything at all, don't you? You adventure freak. They haven't found the magic caster that deserves to be on the team, even the best magic caster that is known here didn't pass their test." I nodded and look at them, I saw that the girl who I collided into is looking at me, so I smile at her but she just looks away. Oh, well.

"Come on, and let's go!" William and Liam said happily and excitedly. We all smile as we enter the tower. 

Once we enter, the darkroom instantly lights up and becomes forest-like. This is so nostalgic, it reminds me of when I was training with my parents in the middle of the forest. 

"Focus here, Althea!" Liam shouted, as I wake up in my dreamland, I smile as I see that they are already attacking the creeps. This is so easy to kill since they are all E level monsters, but they are too many. 

Creeps are E level monsters but have the weakest physical power among the monster, but attacks in a group.

"Stand behind me, Taylor keep my energy maintain. William shield us while they're going back." I commanded and they all did what I said. I close my eyes and focus on the creeps and didn't mind William in front of me. 

"Fire Blazing Expire" I cast and the fire instantly burns all the creeps and avoided William. And once the creeps are all dead, there's a big log with a staircase and a treasure chest that appears in front of us.  

"You never failed to amaze us, how come you are this strong when you live in the middle of the forest?" Liam said, I just chuckle and roll my eyes at him. Alexa immediately ran towards the chest and opens it, she smiles wide as she shouted: "It's full of copper coins!" 

Taylor instantly brings out the magic bag that we are given outside so we can use it to collect our reward. 

"Rune Bag," she said and a big brown bag magically appears and once we finish putting the copper coins, she cast "Storage" and the bag disappears. We climb the log and we proceed to the second floor of the tower. And like the one below we only fight a monster that is an E level. We just fight the monster again and again, and every time we are until we reach the 14th floor. We're now facing a D level creeps and some D level goblins. 

Liam attack the creeps and William distracts the goblin while I support him and Alexa helps Liam. And Taylor just replenishes our energy and heal our wounds. We defeat it all again, and we are tired but we are happy. 

"Nice one team! Let's call it a day?" Taylor said and we all nodded as and we open the chest again. All we get and collect today are a lot of copper coins and some silver coins. We went down the tower and we directly go to one resto-bar that we can celebrate our first adventure! 

"Let's save this to the bank and collect more so we can buy our very own house, what do you say?" Liam suggested and we all nodded and cheers our drinks. "And thank you Althea for being for joining our team."

"Cheers to that," Alexa said, so I smiled at them and drink to my glass. We all make our way to our home and decided to sleep the night off and meet at the tower early in the morning. And I'm sure as hell that I sleep while having a smile on my face. 

The morning comes and just like we decided last night, we are here now at the front of the tower and ready for a new adventure. And once we enter the tower, we immediately see the log and we climb it until we reach the 15th floor. We are facing now a D level two-headed huge wolf and a D level goblins. But unlike before the goblin and the dog attack us in sync. 

"Fire burst"  I cast and the goblins blew away from us burning. "William can you distract the dog, Liam and Alexa do your thing. Taylor, please cast a shield on Liam. I'll deal with the goblins." 

William dashes to the dog and starts to receive the attack of the D level two-headed wolf. While he's doing that Liam and Alexa start to attack the wolf and take each head. And they finish it with two blows. I smile then focus on the goblins who are now standing up. 

"Fire s***h" I cast and all of their heads drop on the floor. 

We all high five once we clear the 15th floor. 

"Hey let's all open the treasure box now" Liam shouted happily and then open a box on the right side, but I notice that there is one too in the center. 

"There's one in the center too," I shouted to them, but once Liam opens the one on the right, we instantly transport on another floor. 

"The one that Liam opens must be a trap," Alexa said, we all looked at each other and get ready for whatever's coming. My body started to throb, Woah. What is happening? I didn't mind it because a B level deer beast like started to appear. 

"B level monster? What floor are we on?" Liam flustered, I cast a "Wind Burst" so we can get ready.

"What's our plan?" I asked them

"Let's retreat, we can't possibly defeat this one, it's so much early for this," Taylor said

"No, we can do this! Come on!" Alexa and William said and Liam agrees.  I look at Taylor and her face twitch. I shook my head and focus on the beast. 

"Wind Burst" I cast again, but the deer held its stand so we all became flustered. "In position William, Taylor do your best to heal us all!" 

"Fire Blazing Burst!" I cast but we all become dismayed when the deer beast just nullified my magic, this is bad. It looks like, he can nullify low-level magic. 

"Liam and Alexa do your combo and I will join you in the fight." I bring out my sword and look at Taylor, she just nodded and understood that she needs to cast a shield on both of them first. 

"William, please receive the attacks well." 

"I got this! Go on!" He assures me. So I ran towards the deer beast but on one second, Liam flew passed by me with a big wound to his stomach. My eyes grew bigger when the same thing happens to Alexa too. "Taylor!" I shouted and she immediately heals the two of them but got no response from them. I quickly run towards the deer and it did the same thing but it passed by me and attack Taylor, but William quickly shielded her. 

I focus on my energy and make use of the fire I saw. "Fire Bomb!" I cast the spell and point it to the deer, and once it hit the beast it instantly goes on a rampage and stomp on William

"No!" Taylor and I both scream, and in a second, it bites Taylor's head too. My eyes become blurry, and I can feel my rage all over me. 

"I said no!" The deer looks at me and started to run towards me. I fixate all my energy on my hand and cast "Fire Explosion!" and it instantly burns up but it still running towards me. I bring out my sword and face it, and once it almost reaches me I s***h it in half. But he bites me in my shoulder leaving a big wound on it before it finally drops to the floor and becomes ashes. 

I kneeled to the ground and look at my friend's bodies and started to tear up. 

"Why are you on the 60th floor when you just reach the 15th floor?" I looked at the one who's speaking and see that he's a royal guard and have a party with him too. Then all of a sudden, my eyes started becoming blurry, and then it's all pitch black.
