CHAPTER FORTY-ONE The sound of the bell ringing had alerted Aggie to the fact that Kyle must have given up waiting for her and left. She finished chatting and made her apologies to the couple talking to her and quickly made her way to the door. Pushing it open, she rushed outside, looking left and right to see if she could determine which way he’d gone. Eventually, she spotted his car still parked on the kerb. Frowning, she bit the inside of her cheeks and wondered where he would have gone. Turning back, she thought she caught sight of a woman in green running around the corner down the alleyway just past the shop. Then she heard some shouting and an almighty thud. Her heart began to thud in her own chest and she ran, not even noticing the pouring rain, toward the side of her building.
