CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN I'd never heard so many honking horns in my entire life. They seemed to come at us from every direction. As I looked out the window of the yellow cab, I clenched every one of my muscles in expectation of being hit by another car. This was New York and, apparently, this was the norm. That's what the taxi driver told me, anyway, when we arrived at my new address on East 57th Street.
