The Awakening of the Crowned Wolf

CHAPTER 6 - UNEXPECTED POWERS

Our team was under a lot of pressure. Honestly, I didn't know what I was expecting. It was an actual wolf pack against our team. Their strength wasn't the only thing that mattered. Just as impressive was their agility. These were the characteristics of my team.

Our weakest player was Esther, who held the ball. My heart broke if the ball went out of bounds. I can only imagine how devastating that would be for her. The game was down to the wire.

Within minutes of making my wish for Esther's sake, she made her a net. The final score is tied between both teams. There were shivers, tears, and smiles on Ester's face. For all of us, it was a joyous moment.

Nicolas approached me as I headed out onto the field. What time will you pick me up?" Nicolas asked.

I smiled, "I might." I kept walking, pretending not to notice.

Afterwards, he said "Ignore me now!" and threw me over the shoulder.

I started hitting his back and screaming. I screamed, "LET ME DOWN!".

Nicolas tickled me and asked, "Are you picking me up?"?

"Maybe?" I replied.

"Wrong Answer!" Nicolas laughed and tickled me again.

Then I shouted, "Okay, I'll pick you up!" Would you like a ride to the hotel too? I asked Nicolas.

While we were walking to my car, excitedly, he said, "Heck Yeh" Nicolas threw his bag in the back of the car and ran to let the bus driver know not to wait for him. As soon as he got back, he jumped in the car.

As we were sitting at a stop sign, I noticed a young girl, maybe 7 years old, crossing the street and a car was coming right at her. I stood up and yelled, "STOP!" I didn't notice my hands were glowing, and the car stopped immediately.

She finished crossing the street and went on her way. I said, "Wow, that was close.". Nicolas looked at me in awe, "What was that? Your hands were glowing. You literally stopped that car."

I laughed at him, thinking he was playing a joke on me. As I looked at him quizzically, I said, "I just yelled at the car to stop. Maybe you were just seeing the sun off my hands?"

Nicolas says, "I know what I saw. We need to figure out who you are and why you have powers." I pull up to drop him off and Samantha yells at him. As she's about to slap him, I get out of the car and look at her sternly. As I pointed at her, I said, "Put your hand down." She did indeed put her hand down to her side, as my hands glowed.

She huffed and turned the other way. Nicolas stares in disbelief and asks, "You saw your hands this time, right?"?"

"Yes," I stuttered, completely shocked. I swear, this is all new to me.

"We can talk about it later," Nicolas said.

Turning around, I said, "I'll pick you up around 7pm." Then I jumped in my car and drove home.

I'm tired and wired too. There are a lot of emotions going through my head right now, from anger to sadness. There's nothing worse than not knowing who you are. It feels more and more like I'm an abnormal freak every day.

When I get to my house, I park my car. I'm exhausted and stressed. As I walked in, I waved at my mom. I kissed her on the cheek and told her I was taking a nap before the dance. After walking upstairs, I faceplant on the bed.

Alora – the unknown person in Alexi's dream:

I'd like to tell you a little about our history. It's been centuries, maybe millennia. It's all about packs, clans, etc. They fought each other to the point of extinction.

A "White Wolf" was created by the moon goddess. The Wolf will be born when it's needed. In addition to being a direct descendant of the Moon Goddess, she'll be royalty. The birthmark of a crown on both forms of werewolf, human and wolf. This is how one will know the signs of things to come.

Let's go back to the present or your birth. There's a part of me that belongs to both the werewolf and faerie races.

When you were born, they assigned me as your warrior guard. You've never seen me because I am in the shadows.

I'm the one who left you with the humans you're with now. There was a pure spirit about them.

Alora tells me that and a tear falls from my cheek. No matter what, she keeps telling her story. The vampire's name is William. The clan he belongs to has a lot of species. The White Wolf was going to be born, according to his Oracles. The day after you were born, he sent a spy to kidnap you. I hid in the draperies, so his spy didn't know I was there. Getting into the castle would be tricky for a spy.

When you look into a vampire's eyes, you're hypnotized. Your mother's sister was hypnotized by him. Royals are normally unaffected by vampires, but the Queen's sister is adopted and human.

To protect you, an urgent meeting was scheduled with trusted people. My Alpha, the Redwood pack's King and Queen, and I were the only ones who could be trusted. While this meeting was going on, William broke into the castle.

Because of your agitation, I stopped the meeting and went to your room. We got you out of William's hands and took you somewhere else. William was an excellent tracker, so I knew he would follow your scent.

Once I find a cabin, I bound your abilities until you turn 18. It seems like your powers are coming out. Hence, I need to train right now because you're the Warrior Princess, the Crowned Wolf. In the war that's supposed to happen, you need the training to beat William.

To say my mouth dropped and hung open would be an understatement. Then I slapped myself and said, "this is just a dream." I turned to her and said, "since you're a fairy, can I now dream about unicorns?"?"

She laughed, "Yes, I am talking to you in your dream and no, you are not crazy. No, you cannot have a unicorn. They are shifters as well and belong to themselves. I have come to your dreams not to get close to you. I do not want William following my scent to you. Humans smell rotten to us, so putting you in a human town masks your scent. Now we have another issue. Your powers manifest earlier than we wanted. When you use your powers, you broadcast your power to the magical world, just like fireworks. What I am trying to say is we need to hide you again."

Then I screamed frantically, "No, no, no, I need to finish high school.".

"You need to live first!" says Alora. It's important for the Moon Goddess to keep you alive." Let Nicolas know you talked to me because he's honorable like his dad. We'll talk more later." After Alora left me, I woke up at 6 p.m. Oh my gosh, I need to get ready.

As soon as I get out of the shower, I grab my robe and towel. I think this is the shortest shower I've ever taken. When I'm done showering, I blow-dry my hair. After I dry my hair, I straighten it and add a few ringlets.

For me, makeup isn't necessary. I just put on some eyeliner and lip gloss. My closet is calling my name as I search for the perfect dress. Digging through my closet, I found a red dress. Rather than a bright red, it was a darker, more royalty-inspired red.

What's your opinion, Kiki?" I asked.

Kiki thinks for a second and replies, "It'll work.".

It makes me laugh. Really, Kiki, how did that help?"

Kiki replies matter-of-factly, "What do I need from human clothing?" It's not something I want to wear or would wear!

I laughed. "Oh really? Not even a pink bow for Kiki?""

There's a growl at the back of my head from Kiki. My underclothes go on and I pull the red dress over my head. I got black flats and a black angora button-down sweater. Let's go! I'm so excited.

As soon as I text Nicholas, I tell him I'm picking him up. I sent a mass text to my friends inviting them to Culliies before the dance. I yelled at my parents after running down the stairs, "I'm going to the dance!". I got in my car and drove away.
