“Do you want more coffee?” Elijah asks. “Sure.” I smile, trying my best to act normal. I returned from Rune’s last night before it started to get bright. Some shop keepers had already arrived at their businesses, rushing about to get everything ready for the day ahead. Luckily, Bertha hadn’t arrived at the house yet and the back door was still open. There is some luck on my side. I was terrified as I climbed the stairs, half expecting Elijah to be standing at the top, asking me to explain where I’d been.
