Chapter 7 - Sonya is different

Third person POV

Sonya walked to the bank with the funds that Isaac had given here. Went in and opened a new account. Recieved her information and placed it in her purse with her new debit card. Walking out of the bank she smiled to herself. She said "I can't believe Isaac did this for me. I hope his interview is going well. She looked up at the Doyle Securities building. She took her time going to the cafe. Stopping at the stores in between to see if there was anything that she would like. But barely splurging on anything for herself. August's birthday was next week and she decided that although August wasn't a nice person. She would get her something for her birthday none the less. She always thought of others even when they never thought of her. She knew if she picked out an item that August would destroy it or deem it as useless as it came from her. One thing that she knew August wouldn't decline is a gift card to her favorite store. So she bought her a gift card and a card to put it in. She would give it to her between now and then as she knew she wasn't invited to the gala that Charlene had set up. She didn't want to spoil her adopted sisters day even if August always spoiled hers when she had the chance. Sonya's heart was too big for the people that were around her most days. As the afternoon droned on she waited at the cafe for her brother. Not too long after 2 did her brother show up. He came in with a big smile on his face and sat down with Sonya. Sonya said "Well? How did it go?" Isaac said "I got it Sonya. It's all thanks to you. Not only that but I found my m...my soul mate. Ive got a date with the most beautiful woman and shes the vice presidents assistant!" Sonya smiled. Isaac almost outed himself. Luckily he thought quickly and kind of recovered. He didn't fully lie but didn't fully tell the truth either. He hates having to keep this secret from his sister. He has seen her writing and believes she has to know more then what everyone thinks she does. Even if it's only subconsciously. Isaac ordered his food and they ate quietly. Once they were done. Isaac asked "What did you do today while I was getting hired?" Sonya smiled "Well, I used your birthday gift to open an account. I have my own debit card now. I went window shopping. Saw some things I may get myself once I am on my own. An I also got August a gift card for her birthday next week. With this card." She pulled out the card and gift card. He saw that it was a $100 gift card to sephora. He knew August would love it but wouldn't say thank you to Sonya for it or anything like that. Isaac nodded and smiled. "She is going to love it. But sis that money was for you. Not for this." Pointing at the gift card. Sonya smiled. She said "I know. But as she said earlier. You only turn 18 once an, although I know she won't thank me for it. I know she will use it to get something that she really wants. That's a good enough thanks for me. I may suggest she gets her makeup done by them for her birthday. She said she was going to have a spa day. I know she's going to ask where I got the money too. I have that covered. I will just say that when I walked with you to the building that there was a company doing a 1 hour lecture that they paid for people to sit in on and that I realized she needed something for her birthday. So sitting in on a lecture and filling out some paperwork and I was paid for it. I know companies that will actually do that. Like panels where they pay for participation. I was actually going to do that earlier anyway, but your surprise changed my plans a little bit. Look. I even bought myself some lip gloss from there. Purple." Sonya laughed when she showed him. He shook his head, smiling. At least she got something for herself, he thought. They finished up at the café and walked to the park near their house.

Sonya said "Hey, so tell me all about the interview and also about Danielle. Your 'soulmate' ." She said with air quotes. Isaac smiled. He said "She's perfect. When I went in for the interview. I ended up talking to the CEO. He rode the elevator up with me and sat in on it." Sonya said "Damian Cummings himself sat in on the interview. He doesn't do that. Not normally from what I heard. What was he like?" Isaac said. "Intimidating for sure. He is at least a half foot taller than me and built like a wall." Sonya listened intently. She has always had a crush on him. From the pictures she had seen online of him relating to his company. She knew she would most likely not meet him unless she worked there. And even then, the chances were slim. Yet her brother on his first day even going to the building, got to meet him. She was a little jealous. Isaac continued on, "He asked where I was from. You know the normal get to know you questions. When we got to the VP office floor, we exited and met RJ met Danielle. Damian introduced us. We didn't get to talk much until after the interview. Interview was normal questions for the most part. He asked me about family. So I told them about you and august and the parental figures. I was completely honest with them that you had helped me study for the interview. An they appreciated the honesty. I told them you may be putting in a application soon because you are both smart and are interested in the company itself." Sonya blushed. Isaac indeed knew her well. More so than she thought he did and today proved that. Sonya said "I am happy that you got the job Isaac. An thank you for today. It felt good being able to open an account and have my own money squared away. Do you think August and mom were able to find her a dress?" Isaac said "I have no doubt. If August knows how to do anything. It's spending other peoples money. Speaking of, which bank did you open an account at?" Sonya showed him the bank managers card. It was the one right near his new job. Sonya said "Well, I better get back home. Finish today's chores and make dinner." Isaac shook his head. He said "Sis you are NOT cooking tonight. I am taking the family out. It would be a good time to give August the card too unfortunately. Even though it's your birthday." Sonya didn't know what to say. She's always had to make dinner on her birthday. She didn't mind giving August the card today. It would make her overjoyed that she got something on Sonya's birthday and that Sonya didn't receive anything. That's how petty and horrible of a girl that August was. Sonya said "Well I still need to get home to get the house chores done." Isaac said "Do you really want to leave home?" Sonya pondered for a second and said "Well yes. I am 18. I want to be able to live on my own without looking over my shoulder for August. I woke up today with the full intent of leaving after everyone goes to bed." Isaac said "I have an idea. Send in your application once we get back to the house. I will help with the chores. So everything is done and there is no reason to leave you at home for the dinner. I planned on getting an apartment near work. How about if you can live there for a little bit longer, and we get the apartment together. What do you think?" Sonya wasn't sure. She was shocked that he even offered, let alone everything that he has done today. Sonya said "I will think about it. Let's get to the house and get the chores done. I will get my application and resume submitted and you can tell me more about Danielle." She was thinking about it. She was still wary as she didn't know if this change was going to continue or it was just a ruse. Isaac said while they were walking, "You now Sonya. You seem different today. Your more confident. You are actually talking to more. Even your hair is different today. Do you feel different?" Sonya said "Honestly yes. I woke up feeling energized. I never felt that way before. We both are a bit different now aren't we?" Sonya didn't know exactly how different she was though. The day wasn't over yet.
