Chapter 5 - The interview

Third person POV

Damian said "You must be Isaac, I am Damian Cummings. I am the CEO of Doyle Securities. You are here for an interview, right?" Although he knew the answer to the question. He still posed it out of curiosity of Isaac's reaction. Isaac nodded. "Yes sir, I am heading to the interview right now. Are you sitting in on it?" Damian said "Yes, I will be. Will that be a problem?" Isaac shook his head and responded with a nervous smile, "No sir. I was just curious." He lightly shuffled his feet. Damian smirked as he could tell this was a little nervous shuffle like the ones kids do when they are nervous. As the elevator bell rang to let them know they had reached their destination. Damian motioned for Isaac to step out first, and followed suit to RJ's assistant's desk. Her name is Darlene Ratcliff. Darlene smelled the rogue but was expecting that. She raised her eyes and saw Damian approach. She was a warrior for the pack, but worked during the day as RJ's assistance as he was CFO for the company. She barred her neck as on this floor only wolves were allowed. There were some humans that worked in the company but most were working from home at that point. Making it a more open workspace for those in the office. The humans that came into the office normally either knew of the supernatural, or were mated to someone from the pack. Darlene stood up and walked around to introduce herself to the interviewee as she had a good feeling about him in general and then his scent hit her full force. Her wolf came to the forefront, and she knew this was her mate. She was 20. Her wolf''s name was tiana. Tiana didn't care that Isaac was a rogue. He could join the pack with her. If he wanted to. She was worried maybe he didn't want to. Isaac was still looking down and as Darlene had come around her desk he smelled her scent, which was that of a field of wildflowers. His eyes shot up and he stepped forward with his hand outward and said "I'm Isaac Blake, beautiful. What is your name?" His wolf also came to the forefront saying "MATE!" While wildly wagging his tail in Isaacs mind. Damian looked between the two and said "This is Darlene Ratcliff. She is RJ's assistant and a warrior in my pack. Darlene, can you please let him know we are here for the interview." Darlene blushed as she knew between their interaction albeit small. That they were definitely mates. Darlene nodded and went to RJ's office knocking lightly. RJ opened the door and looked at how flush Darlene was an asked "Are you ok?" Darlene blushed harder and said "Yes sir, your 11 am interview is here and so is Alpha Damian." She swiftly walked back to where Damian and Isaac were standing. Darlene looked down shyly peeking over at Isaac. Isaac stood tall now and showed a confidence that he hadn't emitted since coming into their building. Reaching his hand forward "I am Isaac Blake and I am here for the security officer interview." RJ nodded at his confidence and asked them to follow him back to his office and have a seat. Damian looked over at Isaac, who was a little fidgety, leaving Darlene out there. He said "Don't worry Isaac. You will have time after the interview to talk with Darlene. I can tell you are mates even though neither of you said it out loud. Congratulations on finding your mate." RJ then nodded and said "I had wondered why she was blushing when she came back to get me. That definitely explains it. Congratulations on finding your mate Isaac. Darlene is a good woman, and a great warrior. Now lets get down to business."

As they sat in the office discussing normal interview things. Isaac did his best to concentrate and remember the notes that him and Sonya had gone over on the way to the building. Impressing both the Alpha and Beta with his knowledge of the company. They got through the interview questions and RJ said "Well, given that you are mated to my assistant. As long as you guys choose to accept each other. Do you plan on accepting her?" Isaac looked at him strangely. Isaac said "I will accept her as long as she will have me and protect her until my dying breath. I'm only 19, but I have wished for a mate for a long time. I hope she accepts me. Will us being mates affect my position here?" Isaac asked nervously. Worried he may not be able to work there if Darlene decided to reject him. Damian could sense his nervousness. He said "Isaac, no matter if you guys accept or reject each other. It will not affect your position here." Hinting that Isaac had landed the job without directly saying so. Isaac nodded then said "Wait, does that mean I have the job?" RJ and Damian both smiled and RJ said "Yes, you have the position. I will email you the job offer with all the details later today. An you can stop by HR on the way out and give them all they need. You can start tomorrow if you wish to." Isaac nodded excitedly and said "Thank you. I promise I will do my best to make you guys and my mate and sister proud!" He shook both of their hands. Damian said "I have a couple personal questions if you done mind?" Isaac nodded and said "Ask away. I'll answer whatever you need to know."

Damian relaxed in the chair and said "First off, why are you a Rogue wolf?" Isaac knew this question was going to come up. He had been preparing for it. He said "My family are rogues. We were apart of a pack when we were younger. I have two sisters. One is adopted. She doesn't know about us being wolves and we have done our best to protect her from that secret. She was adopted after we became rogues. My parents said they wanted to wait until my sister August and I were old enough to choose if we wanted to go to a pack or not. Or to be able to leave with our mate without any problems should we come across them early. Mom and Dad said that our pack was disbanded when our Alpha and Luna died, and they decided to live with the humans until we were older. That's the only reason they gave us. I truly don't know if it is the truth or not. I didn't question them or their reasons. I would love to be a part of a pack as I have never got to really. I have some memories when I was little, but not too many. And honestly, I don't think they are very good memories anyway." Damian nodded "Tell us about your family," RJ said. Isaac sat back and started telling him about his parents. Their names. His sister August. He didn't say much about her as over the last few years he has grown to despise the way she acts. Especially towards Sonya. Thinking about Sonya, he instantly felt guilty of the horrible things that he put her through over the years. And at the very least not protecting her from August's wrath and not convincing their parents that August was spoiled rotten and out of control. Damian's wolf perked up when Isaac talked about his sisters. He wondered if either of them would be his mate as there was that faint scent when they had gotten into the elevator and the only logical reason for his wolf Loki to respond the way he has. Especially when he smelled the scent of fresh vanilla and honey. It was unique and made his mouth water but kept himself under control given he was at the office and it was faint. Isaac spoke up and the guilt rolled off of him. "I want to be honest with you all. My sister is the one that did the research about the job and helped me learn all that I could before this interview. Her name is Sonya and she is my adopted sister. If it weren't for her, I don't think I would have had the courage to even show up for the interview. I know that she was looking at this place for possible employment for herself in the future. She turned 18 today. I can't wait to let her know you guys hired me. I owe her big. I can't believe I found my mate as well. I will gladly start tomorrow. Is there anything else you wanted to know?" RJ looked at Damian asking through the mindlink, "What do you think?" Damian responded "I have a good feeling about him. I don't know about his family joining, but he seems like a good kid just trying to find his way. An he accepted help from his sister to get this job. Do you smell fresh vanilla and honey on him?" RJ tilted his head and took a strong sniff. He could smell something faintly. It didn't stand out to him. RJ said "No not really. What makes you interested about the scent?" Damian said "Loki keeps stirring at the smell of it. I am wondering if one of his sisters is my mate." RJ said "maybe it's the human. It wouldn't be impossible." Damian thought about it, it has happened but it is rare to happen with a Alpha wolf. He would accept her in any case though, because it was the moon goddess's will. Isaac said "I need to meet up with my sister here soon and tell her the good news. Can I go ahead and get things taken care of with HR and Danielle?" Damian smiled. He said "Go ahead, if I have anymore questions I will let you know. We will see you tomorrow morning." They both shook his hand and he was off. Happier then he had been in years.
