Chapter 3 - Alpha hears the rumors

Alpha Damian's POV

Renee tried again to sleep in my bed last night. She doesn't realize that I can tell by her heart rate when she is awake or asleep. and her heart rate speeding up gives her away every time. She really thinks she is something nowadays. Given I have not and will not sleep with someone who is not my goddess given mate. I really need to talk to her about this cause I know she wants me to take her as my chosen mate. I thought I made it clear that I will only have my Goddess given mate as my Luna.

Apparently I haven't so I will be taking her out to dinner tonight to explain. I want to let her down easy, but I don't want her to confuse our situation. I have heard some rumors from the pack house while listening to the omegas about how she was acting. They have not come directly to me, but I have accidentally walked by some where they were speaking to one another about how they feel about her and how she treats them. Renee has not treated anyone badly in front of me but I am hearing more and more about some mistreatment happening involving her and the omegas. While I try to see the best in people. I know the Omegas work hard to help keep this pack in ship shape and are big gossips. The more I hear the more I am starting to believe that she is two faced. I just need the proof before I accuse her.

I know that the pack she came from is basically like the stone ages when it comes to how they treat most women and Omegas or really anyone who doesn't come from money. She came from the Crescent moon pack. My family is trying to get these types of packs to see the error of the older ways, but some are stuck and refuse to change. In some cases we have to do rescues or outright challenge the alpha for pack control if the treatment is severe enough to warrant it.

I have grown fond of Renee, but not to the point that I would even consider her an option If I were never to find my goddess given mate. I didn't go into the office today as I need to get some pack work done. My beta and gamma are there to make sure all is well with my work meetings and will inform me if I am needed. They are doing some hiring and interviews today. Apparently one is going to be for building security. A rogue wolf that has shown potential in his application. For some reason this intrigues my wolf making him stir a bit in my head. I am not sure if that's a good or a bad thing but work rarely stirs my wolf, well unless I am in danger or something like that. I wonder what has gotten into him. I may need to swing by there to check this rogue wolf out. For now I will wait to hear from my beta to see what he thinks about him. I am currently in my office when my door knocks. I tell them to come in. I can tell it is Renee again, can smell her overpowering perfume from a mile away. She is wearing something that looks like it should be worn at a night club and not the pack house. She tries to entice me by swinging her hips as I see her come to the desk with my peripheral vision. I don't even bother looking up from the computer as I am going over more documents we have received from packs asking for help with their heirarchy. I said "What do you want Renee? As you see I am trying to get pack paperwork done." Renee looks at me an frowns as I still haven't looked up from my paperwork or computer. She said "Damian, you work to hard these days. Either in the office or here on pack things. Let alone when you go out on missions. Why don't you set down the paperwork and come out with me?" I said "Renee, you know that while I am home I need to get things done here. I could be on a mission in the next week or so and I can't leave it all for my Beta or gamma or their parents to take care of. It is my duty as Alpha to get what I can done while I can and do my share. I do want to talk to you about something. I am going to take you out to dinner tonight. Nothing formal. We need to talk. I'll pick you up around 6 ok?" Renee's face lit up. She said "Ok, I will be ready." I have a feeling that tonight dinner is going to break her heart but I can't let her live in delusion thinking that she is going to be my Luna.

Renee POV

I walked out of Damians office excited that he is taking me to dinner. We haven't done any dates in a long time or charity events and I was starting to worry that my charms weren't working on him anymore. I try to bring up about the pack Luna position from time to time and he dismisses it saying he doesn't want to talk about it right now. I will be on my game tonight and I will seal the deal that way he will make me his Luna. I have already talked with my previous Alpha about getting a witches potion to make him think I am his mate and to mark me. I just have to figure out a way to get him to take it and tonight will give me the chance. I can't wait to leave whatever place he takes me to and bring him home to bed with me. When he wakes up in the morning I just have to put on my best acting skills to act like I was drugged as well and don't know what happened. If all works out I will be marked by morning!! I get back to my room and lightly pack my things but not enough that my aunt or uncle will notice. Just so I can move in a hurry once we make the Luna announcement. I can't believe my luck has changed so quickly. The omegas here don't know what is going to hit them once I am in charge. Now what to wear. I can't wear this as I have already shown it to him and he doesn't seem interested in the outfit. So I will find something while I am out getting the potion and I will be back before he picks me up. I am so excited I can't wait for tonight.
