Chapter 26: Devastation

I was in the gym working out when I got a link from one of my warriors saying there was an attack at the conference in Ironside, and it didn't look good. I ran to my office, picked up the phone to call King Silas to get information about what was going on, and his second-in-command told me to get there immediately, something was wrong with Rowe. I called Polly so she could let us hitch a ride with Levi, as he had Emile's crystal, and we were there in no time. We saw the c*****e as a lot of dead bodies were put in body bags, and a lot of cries from the injured. I saw the blood of Prince Lawrence as he was giving orders and I saw Axel outside talking to his men and I knew this son-of-a b***h had something to do with it, but I held in my anger saying, "Where is my son?" I could feel Polly's uneasiness wanting to know about Rowe; he wasn't dead, if not, she would have felt it, but we were worried as he was not here.
Lawrence took me to the hospital, where I saw Rowe walking up and down the hallway and Polly running over to him, hugging him. He kissed her forehead, linking each other so as not to give out their secret, as I pulled him in and hugged him; he had blood all over his shirt, and I saw the bullet holes in his abdomen and asked, "Are you good, son?" He said, "All healed, but it's not me that I am worried about, Davina was hit, Dad," and his voice broke. I saw Polly run to find out anything about Davina's health; I said, "Tell me what happened, Rowe?" He looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, "Her heart stopped on the way over here, but she was in surgery, she jumped in front of me without me realizing it, Dad, if she dies, I don't know what I will do." I made him sit down as he rubbed his bloody hand on his pants and said, "It's mostly her blood, so much blood, Dad, and there was nothing I could do, the woman I love was dying, and I couldn't help her."
I said, "Don't beat yourself up, she loves you and will never blame you," he said, "There was a doctor in the room, so he jumped in to save her and I don't even know his name," when King Silas said, "His name is, Dr. Rollo, he is one of the best we have here in Ironside City and was assigned to the conference; I am sorry Barron, I should have protected your son better." I looked at him, saying, "I have to ask, did you do this, Silas?" He said, "No offense, I would have asked, too, but no, never, your father is one of my best friends and allies." Rowe said, "My girlfriend is in surgery, so you better have a lead on why this happened," and he said, "Our detectives are on it and I promise you, we will find the culprit," and I nodded before he left. Levi appeared with fresh clothes for Rowe, and he went into the bathroom to change.
Ty appeared later and said to Rowe, "Show me what happened," Rowe let him bite his hand, and he saw what happened, showing me and the others what happened. Ty walked into the room where the surgery was happening, smiling at Rowe; I was furious at the hit, but who was the target? Drax appeared and said, "King Pele is okay, he was hit pretty bad, but I was able to heal him a little, our powers were still pretty new," before he smiled at Lawrence, and Lawrence smiled back, waiting for Ty. I mind-linked Drax and asked, "Don't you have a girlfriend?" He growled at me and said, "Yes, I do, you Viking Clown, but I am not blind, the guy is hot," before he walked out, cussing me in his language, and I laughed.

Rowe
I felt the pain in my stomach; it hurt, and I was losing blood, but I would heal soon because I was technically a hybrid with a dormant wolf. I looked down at my fiancée; she wasn't moving, seeing the pool of blood under her, and I started to panic; King Pele was hit, but he was breathing. Elves don't heal like us unless mixed with another species with healing ability; they, however, heal faster than a regular human, but if severely injured, they can die. She was having trouble breathing from what I could tell, and I turned her over to see at least three bullet holes in the chest, one hitting her lung. I put my hands on her stomach, trying to stop the bleeding, begging her to don't die on me, I was scared shitless for her, I loved her and I yelled for help; Haakon wanted to take everyone out.
A doctor ran over, and I growled at him before he said, "I am a doctor, okay, let me help," and he had a little witch patching the injured, who helped him stabilize Davina, but she needed surgery. I backed away as one of my guards was hit in the leg, but he pulled me back, and I told him, "I'm not leaving, Davina," I knew his priority was me, but I was good. We were in the ambulance being transported to the hospital, and she was rushed into surgery; my heart broke when her heart stopped for a few minutes before they got it going again. I saw a lot of people being rushed in, and I was shocked at the mass shooting; why is this happening now? After I changed and Ty left, we waited until a nurse came out and said, "You can go in and see her," and I wasted no time and ran to where she was staying.
I could hear the others behind me when I saw the doctor leaving the room, and her scent was strong, he said, "She will get up soon, thanks to the warlock, she will be fine, if not, she would have died on the table," and Barron growled at him. He said, "No worries, his secret is safe with me," a link came through, and it was Ty saying, "Don't worry, I compelled everyone in the room to say nothing and there was no one strong enough in Ravena to break the compulsion unless it was Aidan or Drax." We understood because they both had a higher ranking than him, and we felt relieved. I was at her side, but I froze, looking at her, and my mother held my hand and asked, "What is it, love?" I said, "This can't be," as I touched her hand; Barron asked, "What is it?" I smiled and said, "She is my mate," as Haakon roared, "Mate," in my head, feeling the tingling of our bond.
I pulled a chair closer to her, holding her hand as everyone left me alone with her; my father sent two guards to stand outside the door with only the doctor and a nurse from the surgery tending to her. He was working with Silas and Drax to find out what was happening and who did this. We were not taking any chances, I knew she was going to be good, since Ty healed her, healed the woman I love, and I will always be grateful to him and I mind-linked all three Supremes and said, "Thank you guys, you don't know what this means to me, you will have me at your service for as long as you will have me." Aidan appeared smiling, and I got up, hugging him, holding back tears; he said, "Your loyalty is everything if we are to take back Ravena from our enemies, and your father filled me in that she turned out to be your mate."
I nodded, and he said, "When she died, it broke the bond with her former true mate, so you are her second chance mate, which means you have two mates, one for the dormant side that will reveal himself in time." I froze, saying, "Two mates," before Aidan opened a portal, smiling as if he was just going to drop that bombshell on me and leave; he never looked back and left.

Davina
I was dreaming, or had hoped I would be; I was at the Elvin ancient waterfall on the Ice Mountain watching its beauty when I turned to see Haakon walking towards me, and I rubbed his fur. He licked my face because he was huge, and I got on his back as he carried me for a walk in the forest; I felt so safe with him, but I knew that if I was there, I was dead. I asked Haakon if he made it or did he died with me; he didn't acknowledge anything because I jumped in front of Rowe as I saw the gun pointed at him. I loved him so much, it was just a reaction to protect my man, I hoped he wouldn't hurt and grieve me forever when I saw the sun slowly change to a light, then darkness, and hear beeping sounds.
It was pitch black before I felt tingling on my leg; it felt so good and calming, I felt weight on my legs, and opened my eyes to a white hospital room, as my eyes adjusted to the light. I saw Rowe asleep on my legs; I smiled because I was alive, and it was dark outside as I looked out the window, seeing the city lights. I heard a voice saying, "Hey, love." I looked at my fiancé with love and touched his face, feeling the tingling and bond in my heart; I was confused and said, "We are mates, how?"
