Chapter 10: The Twin Pendants (Part 1) The underground sanctuary fell silent. Dust drifted through the air as Adrian and the scarred leader stared at the glowing silver pendant resting on the ancient throne. Neither of them had expected another pendant to exist. "So," the scarred leader said with a smile, "the legends were true." Adrian tightened his grip on his sword. "You'll never touch it." The scarred leader laughed. "You still don't understand, do you? We never came here for the first pendant." Adrian's expression darkened. "What do you mean?" "The blue pendant was only the key." He pointed toward the silver pendant. "This... is the true treasure." Without another word, several masked warriors rushed toward the throne. Adrian reacted instantly. His sword flashed through the air, forcing two attackers backward. Another charged from the side. Adrian ducked, spun around, and struck the man's weapon from his hands. The battle erupted once again. Steel clashed against steel. The sanctuary echoed with the sound of fighting. Meanwhile... Far beneath the city, Isabella and Elias continued their journey along the underground river. The old wooden boat drifted quietly through the darkness. Isabella held Queen Elena's journal tightly against her chest. Her thoughts remained fixed on Adrian. "What if he doesn't survive?" Elias looked ahead. "He will." "You sound certain." "I've watched Adrian grow from a lonely boy into the man he is today." "You know him?" "I knew his grandfather." "He entrusted Adrian with protecting the heir." Isabella lowered her eyes. "I never asked for any of this." "No one asks for destiny." Silence settled between them. A few minutes later, the boat reached a hidden cave illuminated by hundreds of glowing crystals. At the center stood a small stone cottage. An elderly woman stepped outside before they reached the shore. Her silver hair flowed in the wind. Her bright green eyes immediately settled on Isabella. "So..." "The Queen has finally come home." Isabella froze. "I'm not a queen." The woman smiled kindly. "Not yet." She introduced herself. "My name is Mira." "I have been waiting for you for twenty years." Before Isabella could ask another question, Mira noticed the journal in her hands. Her smile disappeared. "You opened it." "Yes." "Then there isn't much time left." "What do you mean?" Mira looked toward the dark sky outside the cave entrance. "The Red Moon is closer than any of us imagined." Chapter 10: The Twin Pendants (Part 2) Mira hurried Isabella and Elias inside the stone cottage. Though the home looked small from the outside, it was filled with ancient books, maps, candles, and strange symbols carved into the wooden walls. In the center of the room stood a round table with a faded map spread across it. Mira carefully placed Queen Elena's journal on the table. "The journal has finally returned," she whispered. "Just as the prophecy foretold." Isabella stepped closer. "You keep talking about a prophecy. What exactly does it say?" Mira opened the journal to a page that had remained sealed until now. Golden letters slowly appeared. "When the Twin Pendants awaken, the final heir shall stand between light and darkness. One heart will protect the kingdom. Another heart will seek its destruction. Only love freely chosen can decide the fate of both." The room fell silent. Isabella frowned. "What does that mean?" "It means your future has not been decided," Mira answered softly. "The choices you make will shape the destiny of everyone." Before Isabella could ask another question, Elias pointed toward the cave entrance. "Someone is coming." Footsteps echoed through the tunnel. Everyone held their breath. A familiar voice called out. "Isabella!" Her eyes widened. "Adrian!" She ran outside. Standing at the entrance, covered in dust and with a cut above his eyebrow, was Adrian. His clothes were torn from the battle, but he was alive. Without thinking, Isabella threw her arms around him. "You made it." Adrian hesitated for only a moment before returning the embrace. "I promised I'd find you." For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. Elias and Mira exchanged knowing smiles. The bond between them was growing stronger than either of them realized. Adrian finally stepped back. "The sanctuary collapsed after you escaped. The scarred leader disappeared before I could stop him." Mira's expression turned serious. "Then he'll come for the second pendant." Adrian nodded. "He already knows it exists." Just then, a loud rumble shook the cave. Dust fell from the ceiling. Elias rushed outside and looked toward the distant mountains. His face turned pale. "They've found us." Far across the valley, dozens of black vehicles raced toward the hidden cave, their headlights cutting through the darkness. At the front of the convoy stood the scarred leader, a cold smile on his face. He raised the stolen blue pendant into the air. "This time," he said, "no one escapes." Adrian instinctively moved in front of Isabella, drawing his sword once again. Behind him, Isabella clutched Queen Elena's journal tightly. The battle for the two pendants... Had finally begun.
