Chapter 9: The Queen's Journal The stone door slammed shut behind Isabella and Elias, sealing them inside the narrow escape passage. The sounds of clashing swords and shouting faded until only silence remained. Isabella's heart pounded. "No..." she whispered, tears filling her eyes. "Adrian!" She rushed toward the stone door, desperately pushing against it with both hands. "It won't open!" Elias gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "He knew this would happen." She turned, anger flashing across her face. "He'll die!" "He won't." "How can you be so sure?" The old guardian smiled faintly. "Because Adrian Dawson was trained for this moment long before he ever met you." Isabella stared at him. "What do you mean?" "There are many things about Adrian that you don't know." Elias led her through the narrow tunnel. Ancient torches suddenly lit one after another as if sensing their presence. The passage stretched for what felt like miles before opening into a hidden chamber carved entirely from white stone. In its center stood a crystal pedestal. "Place the journal there," Elias said. Isabella carefully laid Queen Elena's journal on the pedestal. The cover shimmered with a soft blue glow. "It won't open," she said. "It will." "How?" Elias looked directly into her eyes. "It only answers to the Queen's blood." Before Isabella could question him, the journal slowly opened by itself. Its pages turned rapidly until they stopped at the very first entry. Golden letters appeared across the page. "To my daughter... If these words have reached you, then I have failed to protect our kingdom. Trust the bearer of the silver crest. Beware the Phoenix Order. And never let the Crescent Pendant fall into their hands. One day you will return—not as a frightened child, but as the Queen our people have been waiting for." The words slowly faded. Isabella stepped back. "This... this can't be real." Elias lowered his head. "It has waited twenty years for you." Suddenly another page turned on its own. A drawing appeared. It showed a newborn baby wrapped in a blue blanket. On the child's shoulder was the same crescent-shaped birthmark Isabella had carried since birth. She covered her shoulder instinctively. "No..." Tears filled her eyes. "Who am I?" Before Elias could answer, a deep rumble shook the chamber. Dust fell from the ceiling. "They've found the passage," he said. "We have to leave." --- Meanwhile... Back inside the underground sanctuary... Adrian fought fiercely against the masked attackers. His silver sword flashed through the air, forcing the enemies backward. The scarred leader watched calmly. "I expected more from the famous Adrian Dawson." Adrian wiped a drop of blood from the corner of his mouth. "If you're disappointed..." He smiled coldly. "Come fight me yourself." The scarred man slowly removed his black cloak. Beneath it was polished black armor marked with the silver phoenix. "You've become arrogant." "No." "I've become tired of running." The two men charged toward each other. Their swords collided with a deafening clang. Sparks exploded into the air. Every strike echoed through the ancient chamber. Neither man gained the advantage. Finally, the scarred leader stepped back. "You've improved." "So have you." Adrian's expression darkened. "You were supposed to be dead." The man laughed. "Legends rarely die." --- Outside Dawson Mansion... Inspector Raymond arrived with dozens of police officers. The mansion's alarm system had finally reactivated. "What happened here?" one officer asked. Raymond looked at the shattered windows and overturned furniture. "It looks like a battlefield." A security guard ran toward him. "Inspector!" "We found a hidden entrance beneath the library." Raymond's eyes widened. "A hidden entrance?" He immediately ordered his team underground. --- Deep inside the escape tunnel... Elias and Isabella reached an underground river. An old wooden boat waited at the shore. "Get in," Elias said. "Where are we going?" "To someone who has protected your family for decades." As the boat drifted through the dark water, Isabella held Queen Elena's journal tightly against her chest. "So many people have died because of me." Elias shook his head. "They didn't die because of you." "They died because evil fears hope." She looked down. "I don't feel like hope." "You will." A faint smile appeared on the old guardian's face. "Queens are not born in comfort." "They are forged in hardship." For the first time since everything began... Isabella felt a tiny spark of courage. Maybe... She wasn't running anymore. Maybe... She was walking toward her destiny. Far behind them, hidden in the shadows of the collapsing sanctuary, Adrian forced the scarred leader back with one powerful strike. Their eyes met. "This isn't over," the scarred leader said. "No," Adrian replied. "It's only the beginning." As the underground chamber trembled around them, neither man noticed the ancient mural behind the throne. A c***k spread across its surface. Then another. With a thunderous roar, the stone wall collapsed, revealing a sealed chamber that had remained hidden for centuries. Inside stood a magnificent golden throne. And resting upon it... Was another crescent-shaped pendant. Unlike the stolen one, this pendant glowed with a brilliant silver light. The scarred leader's eyes widened. "So..." "There were two."
