Chapter 3

Ruby

Arriving home from the store Jade practically tackles me.

"Did you get me my food?" "Yes Jade I got your food here." I say handing her the food.

"I love you so much thank you." she said snatching the bag from me.

Rolling my eyes I walk into the kitchen and see Jett is still in the same spot as when I left. Placing the bags on the counter I start separating out the supplies. Crystal comes into the kitchen yawning.

"Good morning lovely people." she says in a sing song voice.

"Really Crystal its like 12:30." Jade says with a mouth full of food.

"Jade that's disgusting. What have I told you about talking with your mouth full?" I scold her.

"No-" Before she can even start I shoot her a look saying to swallow her food. "Not to" she says after she swallows.

"I swear your worse than Jett." "Hey I'm not that bad. I'm way better than her." he states.

"Of course you are that's why I always have to tell you to close your mouth when you eat." I tease.

He sighs and rolls his eyes at me knowing I'm right. I let out a light chuckle at how childish he can be.

"And good afternoon Crystal. Here's your stuff for tomorrow." I say handing them their stuff.

I head back up stairs to my room and close the door. Putting my stuff in my backpack for tomorrow. Deciding to spend time in here away from my needy siblings, I lock the door. I pull out my stuffies and favorite blanket. Turning on Netflix and put on the new Cinderella. Right before the movie starts I quickly run down stairs and grab some snacks. Running back up the stairs and into my room I jump on my bed and begin to watch my favorite movie.

While watching the movie and cuddling with my stuffies my mind drifts back to Adrian and how he called me princess. I feel a blush creep up my cheeks.

I buried my face into my teddy bear my mind flashes to the encounter in the store. His laugh was like music to my ears. The way his large body felt against my small one, how it felt like we were puzzle pieces that fit perfectly. And when he called my princess I couldn't help but shiver in delight at the nickname.

He seems absolutely perfect to me. I barely know him but I already feel a connection to him.

Pulling away I grab my phone to check the time and see its 5:30. I've been daydreaming about Adrian all afternoon. Knowing my siblings will come barging in and ask what's for dinner soon. I hop up from my bed and head downstairs to start on dinner.

Not wanting to make anything that requires a lot of effort I pull out stuff to make spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. About 30 minutes later I'm finished make the food.

"Guys! Dinners Ready!" I yell yup the stairs.

I hear Jett and Jade thudding down the stairs and fight to get to the kitchen first. When they finally get in they run to sit down. Crystal walks in calmly and takes her seat sometimes I think she's the only normal one in the family.

"Here eat up" I say placing the food in front of them. Taking my seat we eat in silence.

Noticing Crystal is texting instead of eating I say "Crystal your suppose to be eating not texting."

"Whatever. Why does it matter if I'm texting while I eat?" She asks rolling her eyes.

"It matters because your not eating. You need to eat. Plus Who are you texting we just moved here?" I say

"Why are you always in my business? And why does it matter who I'm texting its my phone." She yells at me.

She stand up and head back up to her room. On the verge of tears I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I chant in my mind I will not cry its not that big of a deal over and over again.

When I've finally calmed down I open my eyes and see Jett and Jade staring at me. They know that I'm the overly sensitive one. Jade simply gets up and hugs me knowing that I'll never cry in front of them. Jett looks back down at his plate.

"I'm fine I promise. Sit down and finish eating." I say with a sad smile.

They nod and begin eating again. Losing my appetite I get up and put away the left over food away. Before heading back up to my room I ask Jade to do the dishes she nods her head and says goodnight.

Stopping outside Crystal's door I contemplate knocking and seeing what has her so upset but decide against it I walk in my room. Pulling out a pair of black shorts with blue polka dots and a blue V-neck shirt that says I'm 99% sure I'm a Disney princess. After changing and finishing my night routine I get in bed and pull the blanket up to my chin.

Thinking about what Crystal said I begin to cry. Holding one of my stuffies close to my chest as I cry in to him so no one will hear me. When I finally calm down from my crying I head into the bathroom and splash some cold water on my face to make sure my eyes aren't puffy in the morning.

Walking back to my bed I hear my phone go off. Picking it up I see I got a f*******: notification. Unlocking my phone I see its a friend request from Adrian. I almost drop my phone from shock but quickly recover. Jumping on my bed I accept his friend request, dropping my phone down next to my I grab my teddy and squeal in to him kicking my legs like a little kid.

Lost in my own little world I hear my phone ding with a new notification. When I look I see its a message from Adrian. A smile spreads across my face.

A: Hey princess

R: Hey

I bite my lip waiting for him to respond back to me.

A: wyd princess

R: nothing just in my room hbu?

Waiting for him to reply I hear a tapping coming from my balcony. Getting up I walk over to the door and see Adrian on my balcony. Pulling open the door I ask "What are you doing here?"

"Well hello to you to princess. And I couldn't wait till tomorrow to see you. Cure PJ's." he says with a smirk.

Feeling slightly embarrassed I cross my arms over my chest and look down blushing. He takes my chin in between his thumb and forefinger tilting my head up to look at him.

"Now princess what did I say about hiding your blush from me?" He asks sternly.

"Not to" I say in a small voice.

"Good girl. Now are you going to invite me in or are you going to leave me out in the cold?" Without saying anything I step to the side and gesture for him to come in.

When he walks in he looks around my room examining it. Noticing I left my teddy bear out I run over to the bed and hide him behind the pillows.

"What's that?" "Nothing." I say quickly. He starts walking towards me, when he's standing in front of me he asks "What is that princess?"

Looking away from him I say again "Nothing." He grabs me by the chin again and says sternly "Princess I don't like asking for something more than once so I'm going to ask one last time. What is that?"

Biting my lip I contemplate showing him my teddy. I'm pulled from my thoughts when I hear him groan.

"Don't do that princess." He says pulling my lip from between my teeth. "Now show me what you hid." he says sternly.

I walk over to where I hid my teddy and hesitantly pull him out and cradle him in my arms. Biting my lip again I bury my head in to him, hoping Adrian doesn't make fun of me.

"Really princess that's it? I thought it would be something worse." He says

Snapping my head up I look at him confused. "What? Did you think I would make fun of you for having a teddy bear?" he asks.

Unable to muster any words I nod my head. He lets out a sigh and walks up to me. What he says next shocks me a bit.

"I would never make fun of you. I would never want to do anything to upset you." I look into his eyes trying to see if he's telling the truth.

Seeing that he's telling the truth I nod and ask "Why are you really here Adrian?"

He smirks and says "I wanted to see you. Do I need another reason?"

"Well no but I just don't get it you don't know me." "Well that's why I'm here to get to know you." he says.

"You know you smirk to much you face is going to get stuck that way." I say sassily

"Oh will it now?" He says smirking again

God I wonder what he looks like with a genuine smile. Lost in my train of though he waves his hand in front of my face.

"Where did you go princess? Where you thinking about me?" He asks cheekily.

Feeling my face redden I quickly say "No" in a childish voice.

"Your so cute when you do that Princess." He says while chuckling.

I humph and pout sticking out my bottom lip. "Oh come one princess don't pout."

I turn my back to him and continue to pout. "Don't pout princess. I'm sorry." He says wrapping his arms around my waist and whispering into my ear.

Without warning he lightly brushes his lips against the shell of my ear. Causing me to take in a sharp breath. "Do you forgive me?" He asks running his nose up and down my neck.

"Yes" I say leaning back in to him. "Yes what?" Feeling slightly confused by this I turn around in his arms and look up at him.

"What do you mean?" I ask slightly in a childish voice.

"Nothing princess." He says smiling "Now aren't you suppose to be in bed?"

"Well... I was in bed but someone decided to knock on my balcony door." I say

"Well I'm going to have to talk to him about disturbing your sleep." he jokes making me giggle.

"I like it when you laugh." "Why?" "I just do. I think its cute. Do you got a problem with that?" I shake my head.

"Come on I came her to get to know you and that's what I plan on doing." He says walking towards my bed.

"Okay but why are we going towards my bed?" "To sit down silly." shrugging my shoulders I walk over the bed and sit with my legs crossed at the bottom of the bed.

He rest against the top of my bed "Why are you down there princess?"

"Because I want to be." "Have you never had a guy in your room before?" he ask teasingly I look down and shake my head.

Adrian leans forward and grab me by the wrist and pull me up to him. I squeal when he does this and I land on his chest, with my face just inches from his.

He seems surprised by this and clears his throat. I adjust myself to sit next to him. We sit in an awkward silence for a little bit till he breaks the silence.

"Sorry I didn't mean to pull you so hard." "Its fine. So.... You wanted to get to know me, what do you want to know?" I ask

"How about this we play 20 questions." I nod my head still not looking at him.

"Okay. Well what's his name?" He asks pointing to my teddy.

"His name is Beans." I say smiling. When I smile I see a genuine smile cross Adrian's face.

"Well its nice to meet you Beans." He says causing me to giggle again.

After Adrian introduces him self to Beans we begin talking about everything. Like where I lived before here and how I'm use to moving at least once a year. We continue talking till I'm barely able to keep my eyes open. We went from sitting next to each other to me resting my head on his chest while he plays with my hair.

The last thing I hear as I drift off to sleep is "Good night princess. I'll see you tomorrow at school." Feeling him shift away from me has me clinging to him more and groaning in protest. He feel his chest vibrate with a suppressed chuckle. He kisses my head and rest back into the bed with me.

Feeling content I finally let sleep take control and drift off.
