12 When some time passed and the footfalls in the corridor and on the stairs outside her room quieted, Raven guessed all had sought their beds. In the chamber she shared with Willa, she moved to the door and pressed her ear to it. Silence. Cracking it open just enough to look out, the only thing that moved were the flames of the periodic wall sconces and the glow from the low fire in the hearth in the Hall. She slipped out the door, closing it quietly behind her, then peered upstairs. There was no movement or sound she detected, so she began to climb to the second floor of the keep.
