8 Adele heard approaching hoof beats, and in one fluid motion had her bow at the ready, an arrow knocked. At her side, Gavin reached out a hand, placing it on the arrow, urging her to lower her weapon. “My brothers,” he said, a wide grin lighting his face. Answering smiles graced the handsome features of three warriors who trotted towards them. Charm, Blue, and Morro raised their heads, ears pricked forward, and sent a greeting to Gavin’s steed, who whinnied in response.
