Jasper's phone slipped from his numb fingers and clattered onto the car floor. He froze for two seconds before lunging to pick it up, his hands shaking so violently he could barely get a grip on the device. The signal was dead. The line had gone cold. "The abandoned chemical plant! Cole, move! Faster!" Cole slammed the accelerator, the car screeching as it tore down the road. Jasper sat in the back, his gaze fixed on the blurring, desolate landscape outside. He didn't say a word. The mangled flesh on his back had split wide open, and fresh blood was seeping through layer after layer of gauze, staining his shirt a deep, morbid crimson.
