I was now sited with Veronica’s father.
“What do you want to speak about?.” Her father asked me.
“I don’t want to go further with the marriage. I want us to terminate the contract.”
“You know that won’t be possible. Your late father promised me and he signed you over to us when you were little. We both know a mafia promise is the most powerful promise.”
“I know sir but I drafted up a contract. If you could call off this engagement I would give you 40 percent shares from five of my companies and you will have my protection for life.”
He let out a short laugh. “You didn’t have a problem with the marriage six months ago. What happened all of a sudden.? You are ready to give me over 40 percent of your shares all because you don’t want to marry her.”
