Who were these men?

I opened my eyes with a strange dazed feeling. Everything seemed hazy, as if the memories of the night before were loose pieces in my mind. The image of the car crash, the strange howl and then... nothing. I slowly stood up and examined my surroundings. I was in a room I didn't recognize, in a comfortable, well-arranged bed. The light coming in through the window revealed an enchanting sight, a scene of serene, natural beauty. A forest stretched out before me, calm and peaceful. It was a dazzling place and, at the same time, unknown to me. The rain had stopped, leaving only a cloudy sky, providing a melancholy but serene atmosphere all around. There seemed to be a singular peace in that place. I felt my cup sore and saw a small cut on my hand. I got out of bed, smelling fresh wood and realizing that I was dressed in dry, clean clothes, which didn't match the damp and dirty state of the accident. Confusion overtook me. How had I gotten there? Who had brought me to this place? I went to the window, gazing out at the breathtaking view. The house seemed to be in the heart of the forest, surrounded by lush nature. It was like being in another world, a place I had never seen before in my life. I decided to explore the rest of the house. On leaving the bedroom, I found a wide, well-lit corridor, but there was no sign of anyone else at that moment. It was as if I was alone in that unknown place. Silence predominated, interrupted only occasionally by the gentle whisper of the wind between the trees. My unease grew with every step I took. I decided to go downstairs and explore my surroundings further. The sensation of being in an isolated place in the middle of the forest aroused a mixture of fascination and discomfort, but one thing was certain: I was far from anywhere familiar. I had been in an accident and there was no one there. I entered the living room and saw a crackling fireplace, which gave the room warmth and coziness. The large windows gave a splendid view of the surrounding forest, but the mystery of the place seemed to increase by the minute. What had happened after the accident? Who had brought me there? And why? Many questions were forming in my mind, and the only certainty was that I needed to understand where I was and, above all, who or what had brought me to this unknown place. I stood with my bare feet and felt an energy. When I turned around, I had to recover from the shock of seeing a familiar face. "How are you, Elisa?" "You?" He was one of the twins from before the accident. He was wearing dark pants and a light T-shirt, with his feet on the wooden floor. My eyes landed on his neck, just to see which one I was talking to. There was only one point. "I hope you're better. You had an accident, the road was more blocked and we had to bring you here, Eliza. It was either that or wait for rescue in the rain." "What? What day is it?" "Today is Thursday, you spent the night here at home. You saw an animal on the road, Elisa, and hit a tree. You must have been scared." "No, that's not it. An animal doesn't stand in front of a car after hitting it, there was someone on the road." I reinforced. I felt as if the world had stopped. Christopher, with his intimidating posture and dismissive words, was standing in front of me. I stood there, petrified, not knowing how to react or what to say. He was clearly angry and I, although determined to defend my truth, felt a tremor inside. His words hit me like a blow. The feeling of helplessness in the face of his confidence and authority made me retreat, even if only mentally. However, something ignited inside me. The memory of past episodes, when they had questioned my perception and doubts, strengthened my inner self. "I didn't hit my head!" I said, determined to defend my perspective, despite the tense situation. Before I could take another step, Christopher abruptly turned around. With my stride, I ran straight at him. His scent enveloped me, taking me by surprise, and his green eyes penetrated my soul, paralyzing me. In front of him, I felt tiny, the vulnerable prey of a predator. Fear and the feeling of being intimidated by his imposing presence were latent. "No one will believe you." His voice sounded sure and firm. The memory of a past full of disbelief and doubt about my experiences invaded me. Taking a deep breath, something inside me grew. An unshakeable determination took hold of me. It was my moment of firmness and confidence. I couldn't let myself be disbelieved. "I know what I saw. I spent half my childhood hearing it. I know what I saw," I retorted, reaffirming my conviction, even though I was insecure inside. He leaned in with a debauched smile, making it clear that he disdained my words. "We heard the noise on the road, went back and saw no one. We brought you here, sorted things out and made sure you were okay. If you're not satisfied and can't say thank you, at least leave your theories outside my house and my brother's house." The sense of confrontation and disregard present in his speech made me uncomfortable. The battle for my truth seemed more challenging than I had imagined. However, determination grew in me, making me more resilient to persist and validate the reality of my own eyes and thoughts. "Good, I'll do it as soon as possible." "Do you want me to call a cab?" I sighed deeply, trying to control the wave of frustration at Christopher's rude attitude. His disdain and lack of courtesy were disconcerting, but I realized that an argument would be pointless. "How can you be so rude?" I asked, feeling the weight of his arrogant and hostile posture. He raised his hand, running it through his hair, and the dark shine of the strands gave him a peculiar and, in a way, attractive aura. "I don't know, I guess the good side stayed with my brother. Besides, why should I be nice to you? What would I get in return?" His voice sounded full of cynicism. I kept quiet for a moment, realizing the futility of continuing the confrontation. My mouth was dry, a symptom of the tension building up in the room. I needed to regain control of the situation and concentrate on solving my problems so I could get back to the city. "Where's my car?" I asked, trying to keep the conversation practical. "Michael was sorting it out. He should be back soon. Thank him later, I would have left you there," Christopher explained dismissively. I looked down, noticing the clothes I was wearing: baggy sweatpants and a white T-shirt. Discomfort invaded my being when I realized that someone had gone through my clothes without my permission. "Who went through my clothes?" I asked. Just then, I heard the door opening. I turned to see who was coming in and saw the second brother, Michael. His serious countenance, the key in one hand and a dark jacket denoted a more restrained but equally intense presence. Now, in front of the two brothers, I didn't just feel the tension and problems they seemed to represent. It was something deeper, a kind of dangerous but attractive intensity. A strange aura emanated from both of them, stirring my feelings and awakening a series of questions. What was happening to me? The sensations were confusing and disturbing, adding to the restlessness that already dominated me. Everything began to feel strange. I wasn't sure how to act and I didn't expect this unpleasant situation to continue. Michael's cordiality contrasted with Christopher's more indifferent attitude. "Hello, Elisa. How are you feeling?" was Michael's polite greeting, trying to ascertain my condition. "Well, I guess so. I...", I started to reply, but was interrupted by Michael. "I hope you don't mind being here with me and my brother. We thought it would be better to help Eliza. You know, it's a small town. Hospitals can also be chaotic on storm days. " I nodded, but the need to return to the city still remained. However, this was ignored when he closed the door and locked it, keeping the key with him. It was a gesture that put me on my guard. A bad feeling was growing in my chest, but before I could do anything, I took a step back, only to come face to face with Christopher's chest. The contact bothered me, I felt vulnerable. And to make matters worse, Michael moved closer, expressing his idea ambiguously: "I think you can stay with us a little longer, Eliza". It didn't sound like an invitation, but an imposition. My heart raced, my mind generating a thousand theories as to why we were in this situation. I took a step back, trying to keep a safe distance between us. The feeling that I was being trapped began to set in. I realized that I had to act, but I didn't know how. Trying to find a way out or at least asking for help was crucial, but the tense atmosphere and the brothers' unpredictable behavior made me hesitate. "I'm sorry, but I really have to go," I said in an effort to keep my composure in that uncomfortable situation. They watched me with expressions I couldn't decipher. I felt a shiver run down my spine, I didn't know if it was just fear of what might happen or the certainty that something was terribly wrong. Every second in that house made me more insecure, my instinct warned of imminent danger and the uncertainty of what might come next left a bitter taste in the air. "You're not going anywhere now." They both said in unison. Who were those men? What did they want with me?
