Lila’s POV I found the college papers taped to my bedroom door the very next morning. The sun was barely up, throwing thin streaks of pale yellow light across the dark wood of the hallway, when I unlocked my deadbolt and stepped out to look for a cup of coffee. The crisp white documents were secured neatly over the brass handle. I yanked them down, my eyes scanning the official university letterhead with a frantic, fast rhythm. It was all there. Every single line of text showed that my enrollment was one hundred percent fixed. The fake dropout message had been completely wiped from the system, my active student status was restored, and I was officially back in every single one of my classes for the upcoming semester weeks.
