The mess hall was filled with the usual clatter of trays and the murmur of morning conversations as I sat down with my team. Harper, Liam, Matt, and Aaron were already digging into their breakfast, but my thoughts were elsewhere. Last night’s conversation with Noah still lingered in my mind, his words poking at the edges of everything I thought I knew.
I picked at my food, not really hungry, just watching my friends as they joked and bantered. For once, I wasn’t in the mood to join in.
“Did you hear about the wolves?” Matt suddenly asked, his voice cutting through my thoughts.
