Chapter Six I step through the walk-in gate and find a nondescript white Dodge Journey idling by the curb. The inside light switches on, and the passenger side window rolls down to reveal Natalie dressed in a black pullover with the Yankees logo on the breast. “Get in,” she says in her usual no-nonsense tone. I slide into the seat beside her, giving thanks that we’re making the trip in a civilian vehicle rather than a black-and-white. Two minutes in one of those would bring back embarrassing memories of my first arrest that I’d rather not relive. “Never took you for a Yanks fan,” I say as she pulls away from Arbor Vista. “Not my idea.
