Chapter Thirty-Two My heart freezes inside my chest. My breath devolves into rasps as my vocal cords seize up. I fixate on the buildings of downtown, looming ever larger. My subconscious mind draws a cartoon tornado spiraling towards us, and I’m powerless to avoid it this time. Tim’s voice snaps me out of my shocked daze. “I see I have your attention. Good.” Piper, no doubt noticing my glassy-eyed stare, faces me. “Who is it?” “Tell the girl behind the wheel that I’m your landlord. I’ve just caught some kids trying to break into your unit.
