Riley’s POV
The whole school was buzzing with team talk for the next few days.
Everywhere we went, students were chatting excitedly, showing off their skills, trying to recruit each other.
The older students had it easier, obviously. They had more experience, more skills. And if you were hot and popular it’s even better—people practically begged to be on your team.
My two roommates didn’t even have to try. On the second day after the announcement, I saw them giggling as they accepted invites from a group of senior warriors.
And then there was Ezra.
This guy couldn’t take a single step without being swarmed. Girls, boys, fanboys, fangirls—everyone wanted to be on his team. I even saw a girl break down sobbing after he rejected her. She dropped out of school that same day.
