The sun chose to shine the following morning. Will awoke to bright sunlight streaming through the window, and an empty bed. He rubbed his eyes and looked around, but there was no sign of Dearne. He let his head flop back on the pillow. He was being ridiculous. Childish even. Why the hell he couldn’t just take what was on offer, God alone knew. He pulled himself up and plumped the pillows behind him so he could lean back. The room was beautiful. Warm, lavishly decorated, and with clean, fresh linens.
