Dearne frowned. “In what way?”
“The shock of reports of your death at Waterloo almost overset her.”
“I imagine they would, and I am sorry for that. I have no idea what happened out there. My memories of it are sketchy at best, and I can recall barely anything about coming back to the country after I got away from Belgium. Try as I might, my memory fails me.” Dearne smiled at the companion. “If you can tell me what happened I would be inordinately grateful.”
