The Day Of

455 Words
A beautiful autumn day. It started out so peaceful and happy, and quickly turned into my worst nightmare. I was always a procrastinator, I even waited to apply for college, so of course it's the day of prom and I had yet to find a dress. "Marcella!, Please tell me you've found SOMETHING by now!" Sadie hollered from inside the dressing room. She had already found a dress but adored clothes so my bestie came along the second she found out I was going to the mall. She burst out the room wearing a skimpy red gown. It complimented her deep complexion. "Sadie, why is it everything looks divine on you?" I envyed my friend the way her jet straight black hair hung just below her shoulders, and her honey pooled eyes. She was magical in anything the placed upon her skin. "Oh Marcy" she responded. Only she could abbreviate my name like that. "How I wished I had your frame!" She continued "plump in just the right places, I'm a board" she said staring at her reflection. You could say we were placed in the wrong bodies. I longed for her slim fit body and she for my curvy assests. Sadie turned towards me, "so have you found anything yet?" I showed her the Navy blue princess pom dress and the clingy black satin gown hanging behind me. She gaped at the black one. "So you're getting that one" she spoke slowly staring still at the black one. I responded quickly "I suppose so" I wasn't the one for dresses but you only have one prom. I didn't have a date. Not because I was unattractive or shy, I had multiple offers, but some friends of mine got together and decided we would go as a group and didn't sway from that promise. I want with sadie for hair, nails and makeup which I also am not fond of, but she insisted And I obliged. It took all of an hour or so for me but Lord how 3 hours seemed to be too little for her. We were done an hour before prom started. We set off to our own houses, we would meet up with our friends at a local diner 10 minutes away from the school. I walked into my room, shedded my comfy clothes and put the gown on. I bought it without trying it on and as luck would have it, it fit. And it did better than just that. It was a second layer of skin, hugging my curves and portraying my supple breast. I looked good. Hella good. I knew I would have to throw off the hands tonight. I didn't know how true that really was.
