Each step through the tunnel was slow and heavy, weighed down by her fear. Rose kept a tight hold on Mark’s hand, refusing to let him go. She could barely make him out in the darkness, his body silhouetted against the torch light ahead, but just knowing he was at her side made her feel slightly safer. Not enough to be calm, but enough to keep moving. Her body was tense, each muscle bunched and ready to run at a moment’s notice.   Every noise that sounded in the darkness made her flinch and she held her breath each time, waiting for another to come and warn her of the thing lurking in the darkness. She was sure there was something there, its eyes watching her, waiting for her to step a foot into its shadows and swallow her whole. The wind seemed to pick up as they moved further. It whistl
