I waited one night and then started heading towards the tower. I limped through crouds of people who distanced themselves from me. After a while, I reached the building. I entered and went to the receptionist. "Hello, how may I help you" she asked looking me up and down. "I was sent here by some horned God thing" I mumbled. She changed her positioning, "We need more details please sir".
"It was pale and had red makeup on it's eyes and lips". She looked at me and said, "Follow me". She went into the elevator and so did I. Then she led me across the hallway to a grand room. A big table sat on the wooden tiles on the ground and a Chandelier stood over the room. Across the table from me sat an old man. He watched me silently and then edged for me to sit down. "Go test him first Terces" he said, and with that, I was teleported into a room with cannons upon cannons apart from that the room was completely wait. Suddenly from the corner of my eye I found something being hurled at me. I turned to my left and witnessed a cannon ball flying towards me. I dashed forwards to face more cannon balls. I leaned back to dodge them but they still destroyed a bit of my jacket. Then from behind me another pair of cannons appeared. I leaped but they still grazed my shoes. For the next few hours the same happened. I practically had no clothes left and was sweating uncontrollably. Then I thought of something. Removing the cannon balls. I dashed to the one in front of me and just as I was supposed to remove it, it fired. I was struck in the stomach but instead of dying instantly like any human would, I felt a sharp pain. I dropped down and shrieked in pain. In my agony I got up once again, I limped over to the cannon. Tears dropped from my eyes. This was the most pain I'd been through and how did I survive. I reached out and removed the cannon ball. My theory was wrong because the cannons recharged so the only means of escape was the room. I jumped in the cannon and prepared to be fired. After yet some seconds, I was hurled up into the air. I screamed in pain but I still completed the objective, I was out. I gasped for air frantically. I was greeted by the receptionist again. She led me to a room with beds. "You'll sleep here for the night", "Tomorrow you have another test". While I was sleeping, the window darkens and a chair replaced my bed. "Greetings again human, the next test is about finding a coin, however there's a twist". With that the window went back to normal. f**k this horn thing. It brought me into this whole incident. In even starting to suspect that the monster at my house was sent by it. The next morning, I was led to a huge room on the 23rd flat. Just as the horn thing told me, I had to find a coin. The room was plated with silver and in the middle was a large stack of silver coins. I had to find the special one with a different picture. I searched for it for hours on end. These tests were extreme. I wondered when it would end. Waiting to get there, astra. I triple checker the stack but found nothing again. Then I remembered what the diety said last. There's a twist. I contemplated what it could be. Maybe there was none, no it couldn't, I'm assuming it's supposed to be super hard. Maybe it was camouflaged in the wall. I started tapping the walls and then came to a realisation. It made the same sound as the small coins when I tapped it. I left the room and told the receptionist my answer. "Correct" she said. I was doing well so far, that's what I thought. The next morning the same thing happened except for, it was held in a cage. At the middle stood a fiend. I may have been more to the smart side but I wasn't strong at all. At school I used to get bullied to the point where I nearly committed suicide. However my mother saved me and took me to a therapist. I was told to enter the cage and they closed the door behind me. It leaped at me and all I could do was run. It jagged claws penetrated the arena each time it failed to hit me. It was then I had an idea. The creature wasn't that big and was shaped like a small hyena so each time it chipped at the arena, I gathered the pieces. Eventually I had a handful. I picked out the two biggest. I trembled while awaiting the attack. Then when it leapt towards me, I countered and stabbed it. The creature wheezed but could still run around. Then on a fateful pounce, it got me. I fell back onto the ground as it continued to bite me. I cried out for help. My arm was destroyed and I couldn't even feel it. As it was about to move onto my neck to finish me, My blood was overcome by a dark shadow. The area turned white and I sat on a chair. The creature laid in front of me.
"Now kill it" edged the horned diety. I drew my weapon up and slammed it down upon the creature. I stabbed it repeatedly until it stopped breathing. Finally, I'd won. After that I was taken to another floor and treated. An old lady walked in and used some sort of healing to fix my wound. I wondered how, the hyena had bit me so deep that my bones where exposed. Then I was led to the grand room. The old man waited for me once. "I see you have passed, question, what diety chose you?"
"I don't know but it has horns on its for head and red makeup on it's eyes checks and lips"
"I see it's Ode the goddess of the soul train". I looked at him in confusion I knew what the soul train was but I thought there was only one God. "She lives in the trains and her vessels blood" he continued, "I remember my old days with her in Ygra, she was a cruel Nobel among the gods.", " anyways, you're in"
"in what?" I asked confused.
"Didn't she tell you"he sighed, "anyways this is a demon Hunting and crime stopping organisation, currently, we're at war with other organisations for the deeds of an old friend and you're replacing him". In the following days, I had to do chores like cleaning, cooking and groceries. This was more of a house than an organisation building. I also met some other members. While I was doing the test, they were on a mission to stop a black market sale hosted by a mafia family. Some of them were at their own house. The strongest was Kluh. He was also a God's vessel. He has the ability to teleport small things anywhere. He uses chemically advanced darts such as acid to kill his enemys. His best friend Nwonknu is quite mysterious. No one knows his background and since he and Kluh only care about missions, they're friends. Next in line is Happy, that's his nickname and I still don't know his real name. He's called that because he's always cheery and is simple minded. These are the top 3 apart from the chairman (the old man God guy). One day after finishing the daily chores, I was approached by happy. I assume he was trying to hide as he was crouched behind the couch. He wasn't very good at hiding because I could see his curly red hair sticking out. "I see you" I said staring at the red cactus. "Oh man, anyways, I wanted to ask you to do a job for me". I had to oblige since he had a higher position than me so I accepted.
"Can you take care of some mafia detective stuff" he said leaving the room. He came back with a fat stack of paper. He dropped it on the table and went off saying, "That's all the info I got". I read a few papers only and managed to make out that there was a gang trying to deal drugs to rich families and they were hosting an event for that. After finishing half of the papers, I left to go do investigation. I took a taxi using the money I recieved after doing chores. After 1 hour or so I reached a building. It was like a shorter and less modern version of ours. I put on my mask that I'd bought online and snuck in. I followed through using my memory of the map on the papers. To my knowledge, I had to go upstairs on the highest floor, 45. I took the elevator and to my surprise, it stopped at the 30th floor. Someone else was going in. The door slowly opened and as it did, I sprinted out towards the stairs. The guard turned back and chased me. I ran and on the stairs, I realised there was an emergency button. As the guard opened the door, I hid behind the door. I tripped him up and found a gun on him. I took it and contemplated about weather I should shoot him or not. I resolved to shooting his hands so that he couldn't tap the button. I then ran up the stairs. I didn't want to kill anyone or else I'd be a murderer. After a while, I reached the top floor. The guards must've been really lazy since none of them used the stairs. I was starting to regret this. I could get killed. When I reached for the door handle someone on the other side slammed it open and I was greeted by a firearm. "Stay put!" he shouted. I didn't listen however. I skipped the stairs and hopped down a floor. Then I ran down the stairs. The man chased me down and started firing. I pulled out my firearm on him and started shooting back. It was then I felt a sharp pain on my left shoulder. Blood gushed out of my wound. However, the adrenaline was too much, I didn't care. My life mattered here. It was then I wondered why the god wasn't showing up. I didn't have time for those thoughts because soon after I was shot again near my liver. I collapsed but quickly got back up. I wasn't gonna die because I had learnt that now my body was more durable but I still felt the same pain and these bullets were more advanced. I fired two shots. One hit his collar bone and the next hit his lungs but somehow he was still fine. So I fired another shot that got him on his forearm. However he just kept shooting. I was hit with 3 shots to the chest. I tumbled down half a floor and when I tried to get up, I fell. Then he shot my back. I fell down the next set. Then I limped over to the elevator. I ran in and went to the first floor. I ran out. I hired a taxi and then collapsed into a bush. I woke up in a hospital bed. I had tubes attached to me. I guess that the taxi driver found me instead of my organisations. My heart rate was extremely low. Then a doctor entered the room. He told me what any other doctor would say and told me I was in critical condition. I wasn't surprised until the old lady entered the room.
"Move out of the way you fat cunt" she said pushing the doctor out of the way. She mostly healed me but explained that just as the papers said, "The bullets are advanced by a group God". A few days later my condition got better and I was discharged. I returned to the organisation building again. Happy greeted me and asked, "How'd the mission go". Rage boiled up in me. I'd nearly died in a shootout and he's asking me. I ignored him and went to do chores again. I was interupted by the Secretary who hushed me over to the grand room. As always the old man sat there. "Hello there, seeing you're performance, I was appalled so I resorted to give you intermission training". That hurt me but it was true but why. He snapped his finger and teleported me in a room. A pair of 2kg weights sat there. I assumed I was supposed to lift them up so I did. I did this for about an hour. Then two, I realised that the weights gradually got heavier . I estimated that it was around 3kg by now and I was already having trouble. I was sweating intensely and begged for them to stop this to no avail. I cried out in pain. My arms were aching and I felt like dying. I never knew I was this weak. What's the point of being smart when you can't even lift 3 kg. But then again, it was still more than 3 hours. Eventually, I dropped the weights. I collapsed and panted. How do the others do this. My hand ached like hell and I could barely breathe properly. Glands of sweat dropped down and spread across the white floor. Some tears snuck in through there. Damn I never knew it would be this hard. I was burning but managed to get up an lifted the weights again. I spent another hour. It had probably been nearly 5 hours of lifting weights. I didn't know myself why I was so determined to do this. Suddenly, I was sent back to the real world. The sun was starting to set and I instantly rushed to go to bed. I couldn't sleep though. My arms were numb.
