CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Hoseok stared blankly at her, a few meters away and a tear slipped off his eyes as he watched his beloved leaving the area already. He took a deep breath, sighing as he whispered.

"If only you didn't run away with Seokjin hyung before..." His seemingly confident voice cracked. "—none of this would've happened."

His chest tightened, feeling the agonising pain that was trapped even for a thousand years already. "Why can't I move on from you?"

Hoseok watched from far away, eyes adjusting to see her—using his ability. He sometimes wonder if all the Duke's abilities has something to this with their life. Considering how he got vision as his ability and to think that all he ever did in his life was watch her from a far.

"I guess what they said about us is true..." Hoseok mumbled, stepping forward and got near the palace back door before he took a glimpse at Caroline. "That is we weren't fit for each other to begin with."

He looked down, shaking his head as he chuckled bitterly. "Even when I was a human, we were never for each other."

"And I became a vampire, desiring you even if I knew you wouldn't be my soulmate." He pressed his lips together. "Soulmate..."

"Speaking of soulmate, where is mine now?" Hoseok furrowed his eyebrows just by thinking about his soulmate that didn't even appear for a thousand years yet. But he didn't even dare look for her—not if he's still in love with someone else.

He looked back again, at the direction Caroline exited. "If only you knew that Jin hyung is there inside the palace, and that he's not a human anymore but a vampire—"

"Caroline, about Jin hyung...He's still alive." he added, feeling a bit of guilt hitting right through his chest. "And even if you knew he would be alive, you wouldn't be Hyung's soulmate anymore. A human's destiny changes once he becomes a vampire."

Caroline, Hoseok and Seokjin's love story wasn't any different to Taehyung, Jimin and Hanisha back then.

Taehyung was in love with Hanisha even knowing they weren't even soulmates. He still forced her to stay away from Jimin. Taehyung was envious over humans who have the capability to love without being bounded by their mate, and he was blinded by his feelings towards Hanisha. He still stole her despite the mate bond.

And Namjoon was there for him to change his destiny—in hope that if Jimin will be killed, Taehyung will have Hanisha, and Namjoon gets to have the throne.

A part of Taehyung was in hope that if his best friend becomes a vampire, Jimin's destiny will change as well, along with his soulmate bond. That's why he turned Jimin into a vampire.

While in Hoseok, Seokjin, and Caroline's case, Hoseok was in love with Caroline as a human who didn't know she was a werewolf—he just found out when they met as a Duke and Werewolf. Caroline was in love with human Seokjin. Perhaps Hoseok guessed that they must've been mates. Though Hoseok wondered, humans have the freedom to choose their partners yet vampires and wolves can't as they would be bound by their mates.

If Caroline's mate was Seokjin as a human, would it change now that he's a vampire? Or would it still be the same? If that is the case, would Seokjin have a different soulmate, or would it still be Caroline?

Mate bonds does really confuses him.

This maybe is the reason why the Cross Law existed in the first place.

"He is still alive?" Jungkook choked, coughing as he analyse what the witch told him.

"He is alive." The witched repeated again, rolling her eyes. "I didn't have to do much nor use black magic just to make him alive. All I did was heal his wounds and take out the silver contents inside his body."

"You mean to say that Namjoon didn't really kill him?" Jungkook eyed her suspiciously. She was looking fatigued.

"Maybe. I don't know. Why didn't you ask him when you were about to kill him?" The witched groaned, annoyed.

Jungkook's eyes widened, clearing his throat and remembering his conversation with Seokjin.

'Then what are you going to do with him?'

'I will hide him. Just get some corpse outside and take it as it is him.'

Jungkook didn't want to but he did anyway, and he doesn't have any idea why he was being like that towards the Duke.

The witched huffed. "Go now. I will take care of him for days."

Jungkook nodded, eventually turning into his wolf form before leaving the witch with Taehyung. His heart pounded at the thought of lying to the witch. Not that he was afraid of her, but the idea of her being the Queen once Taehyung wakes up, he doesn't know if it'll be a great idea.

But what made his wolf halt was when he sensed a strawberry scent towards the other side of his direction. His snout twitched to get more access of the scent.

Unconsciously, he ran towards the direction and speeds his way, only to realize there was a female wolf surrounded by a group of vampires—an omega.

Her scent, why was I so drowned to her? Jungkook shook his head, mind directed to Ha Na. He has a mate already, but why does he feel so different? He shook his head before running towards the she-wolf to be protected. He stood centered with the vampires as he growled at them with the wolf behind him.

Without a second, the surroundings turned into a slaughter as he killed every vampires present. As soon as the area turned bloodshed, he looked behind to see the omega already on the ground, breathing heavily and eyes closed.

He mentally rolled his eyes while his wolf purred at the sight. Why was his wolf being this way? His wolf took her, and clasping the nape of her wolf's neck with his teeth, gently. He speeds towards their pack, only to see Ha Na agitated while waiting for him outside the gate.

Ha Na's eyes widened once she locked gazes with him. She ran towards Jungkook who was in his wolf form, approaching him but the wolf just ignored her, and made his way inside the medics room instead, leaving Ha Na slightly hurt.

Why was his wolf being like this?! Jungkook hissed inside.

Ha Na followed him inside who was putting the omega on the bed before leaving the medics room to go transform back inside his room. The future Luna immediately sat beside her as she assisted the fragile lady who tried to get up.

"Who are you?" The omega whimpered, eyes on Ha Na.

"How come you are in this territory, dear? And how old are you? You seemed too young. " Ha Na asked her, feeling a bit of jealousy when she remembered the way Jungkook was acting up earlier but just shrugged it off.

"I was lost...trying to get away from those vampires." She muttered, under hear breath and partly saying the truth. "And I'm 18 years old."

The omega cringed at the idea of turning 19 in a few weeks; the idea of her being touched by several men because of her being an omega disgust her at all. The last time she was touched was 5 months ago, and It was the biggest mistake she ever did.

Ha Na nodded. "Vampires?"

"She's an omega." Jungkook casually entered back to the room. "She must've been running a lot, trying to hide from the vicious vampires."

Jungkook growled. "If I didn't see her, she would've died there."

The omega's eyes widened, the scent lingering her nose again as her wolf howled in happiness and heart escalated at the sight of the man.

"I'm glad you did." Ha Na forced out a smile. "What's your name, honey?"

"Kiana. But you can call me Kia." The omega gulped, looking down. "You?"

"Min Ha Na," she pointed at Jungkook who was standing. "Jungkook's mate."

Kia's eyes fixed with Jungkook's eyes. "His name is Jungkook?"

Her heart broke. He has a mate already? I thought...

"Jeon Jungkook." Jungkook introduced himself bluntly making Kiana jumped on her position, avoiding his gaze.

What am I feeling? What is this? Why is my wolf happy at the sight of this man who already have a mate?

"I'm not a werewolf but I'm his mate if you ever wonder." Ha Na explained as Kiana nodded, feeling her wolf whined.

The omega took a glimpse of the Alpha, feeling the wash of familiarity she has for the man.

He seemed familiar.
