— Well, I should get going… — I said, placing my hand on the door. Even though it was far, I could walk there without much difficulty. — It really was a great morning, thank you. He clicked the button beside him and locked all the car doors. I narrowed my eyes in his direction; his face was impassive. He swallowed hard, resting his head against the seat. I tried to find some sign in his expression, but he was far too unpredictable. — Don’t go, Isia. — I have class, — I said, as if it weren’t already obvious. — I have commitments. You can’t just keep me trapped inside your car because you feel like it. You know, you tend to be very pretentious and arrogant… He leaned toward me, his eyes searching for mine. — f**k it. — Adam grabbed the back of my neck, breaking the space between us with a firm move that established his power over me. I didn’t hesitate, even though my mind was in denial. Inevitably, my hands moved when our lips collided and the kiss took shape. My fingers slid through his hair, pulling him closer to me. My mouth parted and my tongue caressed his. Our bodies recognized each other with a strange familiarity; they wanted each other so fiercely that, before I realized it, my legs were draped over his thigh while Adam settled me onto his lap. His hands squeezed my body with desire. I could feel him grow even harder against me. Then I began moving against him softly, tempting him, torturing him. It was natural, and easy. His strong hands slid over my skin, making the short dress ride even higher. His mouth played with my lips, then marked its presence along my jaw, my neck, and my chest, draining all the blood from my face. — This feels good, doesn’t it, kitten? — he whispered. And I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t agree while everything inside me unraveled and melted. My hips moved along with the intense rhythm of the kiss consuming me. I felt his firmness beneath me, numbing every part of my body with a pleasurable tingling sensation. I moved slowly in his lap to keep up with his lips, feeling him in a way that made me close my eyes and grow breathless between kisses. I had no strength left—to resist, to think, to stop. His middle finger found its place against me. I squeezed my eyes shut when, moments later, it moved farther, pushing aside my underwear and stroking me in slow, circular motions. — I love feeling you. — he murmured, making me burn even more. — I want you to grind for me, Akermisia. My hands involuntarily tugged at his hair as I obeyed him like a faithful servant, like someone I barely recognized, moving for his fingers as they slipped in and out while his other hand gripped my ass firmly. At some point, the jacket had been tossed at his feet, and the party dress had been pushed up to my waist, the black sequins brushing against the skin of my stomach. Slowly and calmly, I unbuckled his belt, glancing up from time to time to watch the reaction of that captivating man. His hands rested loosely along my body, and he looked nothing like the man who had filled me with fear a few weeks ago. In one firm motion, gripping his belt, I lowered his pants. My bloodstream bubbled with pleasure. When my body finally dared to give in, trembling in surrender, Adam, without hesitation and with determination, tore open a foil packet with his teeth and buried himself inside me completely. The force of the act made me bury my face in his neck in search of air, his divine scent intoxicating me as I moaned against his ear. He tangled his fingers in my miraculously preserved hair and declared: — You’re mine, Akermisia. — he seduced my senses, continuing with a rhythm that left me completely surrendered. Hard and relentless. The sensation was good and indescribable. Adam was indescribable. I looked at his face, but his eyes were closed in the dim light of the car as I gave myself to him and belonged to him in a way I had never allowed myself to belong to or be seen by anyone else. I studied every part of his face and smiled, genuinely. An overwhelming feeling warned me that, from that day forward, something would change, and I didn’t even know why yet. My thoughts were interrupted when another wave tore through me. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and let him push me to my limit. I melted on top of him. Adam did too, with slow thrusts that carried the last remnants of my reason away. I tightened my arms around him, trying to recover what was left after I had merged with him so deeply. The car windows were fogged up, and our breathing was uneven. I could still hear his desire being whispered into my ear, his heartbeat pulsing. — Do you have any idea how sexy you are? — he asked with a damn mesmerizing smile. His warmth against my body, that sensual voice that put every pore of my skin on alert—it was impossible not to smile back. When I climbed off him on shaky legs, I settled into the passenger seat and adjusted my dress. Out of the corner of my eye, Adam looked slightly sweaty, his hair messy and his mouth flushed. I laughed like an i***t at the sight of him and, in that instant, while he zipped up his pants, I realized what had changed: My feelings had changed. They stopped hiding and screamed at the top of their lungs that I was in love with that jerk. Adam Melchior had succeeded, and I had become his without even realizing it. My heart ached and barely beat. Was it possible that I had fallen in love with him? ✶ — Liv. — I called, even though the room was empty. The bathroom door was closed, which meant my friend was probably locked inside. — You have a lot of explaining to do, young lady… I was going to call you, but my phone died. I spoke loudly as I closed the door behind me, ignoring the slight tremor in my legs as I wobbled on my heels. I was exhausted and desperate for a shower. I’d have to hurry if I wanted to make it in time for the second class; the first one was already a lost cause. — Shouldn’t you be in class? — I realized, tossing my purse onto the bed and my heels onto the floor. — Well, your night must have been eventful. Elliot told me you left with Leo. By the way, why did you leave with Leo? I thought it was a one-time thing. I sat on the bed, taking a deep breath. I just wanted to sleep. — Livia? — I asked again, realizing that all that silence felt far too strange. Liv should have already fired back three arguments by now and… she never misses a class, even if she’s literally falling apart. I’ve seen Livia take an exam hungover and finish a final project from bed. — Did something happen? I decided to walk toward the bathroom door. I knocked three times and heard a faint sniffle. — Are you crying? — I narrowed my eyes. — No. — Her voice… I had never heard Livia sound so bad. It was obvious she was lying, and it was obvious that something had happened. — Oh, I’m going to kill that i***t! What did he do to you, Livia? — I couldn’t control my fury. On the other side, I heard her start crying for real; she had been holding it in until then. — I’m going after him, and I’m going to beat the hell out of that quarterback wannabe i***t. I decided, stomping toward the door. I was just about to open it and punch Leonardo Coleman when Livia unlocked the bathroom door, and I turned around. My best friend was red from crying, her eyes sunken and her hair tied up in a chaotic mess. She was still wearing the beautiful dress from the night before, but she wasn’t glowing the way she should have been. Seeing her like that cut straight through my heart. She looked devastated as I slowly approached her. — What happened? — I touched her arm, worried, and Liv looked at me as though she were emerging from some kind of trance. It took a full minute before Livia could lift her eyes and meet mine. Her irises were filled with tears, and everything about her looked broken. I was on the verge of crying with her when her lips finally revealed the truth: — I’m pregnant.
